I have been buying this fabulous quality publication since it first appeared in 1998, then, the text was all in Italian.
Any genuine Grand Prix enthusiast who wants to understand the whole technical process of design, production and operation of a Formula 1 car must read these wonderful books.
Fortunately, the author, Giorgio Paola, is truly unfettered in his informed technical comments regarding any team's performance, good or bad.
They are amazing value, the illustrations alone are worth several times the price. In fact, the early copies, say 2005, now sell at a huge price.

A very interesting 2010 technical review of the F1 season 2 Jan 2012
By BillH - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This review of the 2010 F1 technical advances has fascinating close-up illustrations of details that one doesn't normally see on TV or magazine coverage of Formula 1 cars. The illustrations seem to be all computer-generated although they look like colored hand-done drawings. It's hard to know just how accurate they are as the book contains no photographs. It appears that much of the art is taken from photos or on-the-scene sketches, although the author does not elaborate.

The illustrations, however generated, are colorful and clear. There are sometimes from viewpoints that photographers or TV cameras never get.

The text is translated from Italian and some usages are a little strange but reasonably easy to understand. Occasionally, the text refers to numbered arrows on an illustration that don't appear or the reverse: numbered arrows with no reference in the text. The instances are rare, so little information is lost.

Minor flaws aside, I certainly recommend the book to any F1 tech-head.

I loved this book...I have been looking for some technical analysis books on F1 for quite some time that doesn't put you to sleep (e.g. FIA rules and regulations) and this is the book that did it. The illustrations were absolutely fantastic, the text was easy to comprehend and the detail was great. My only negative feedback is that I wish the book was longer, and I would love to see the author do a complete tear-down of an F1 car, and do some illustrations on that (preferably in 2014 when the turbos return). That would be a dream book for me!
