Okay I've now had over a week to get used to this game and I can say that although it's difficult it's well worth a punt. The graphics are top notch and the F1 tracks superb in detail. Be warned though if you don't practice and qualify and set the car up your going to fail and fail miserably.
Patience is the key here but if your expecting something like Forza3 forget it. This is brutal and if you make an error or take your eye off the screen for a split second when racing your in the gravel pit. You need 120% concentration. This is a game for F1 fans or serious racing gamers, maybe too serious! Quick update to the above. I've now had the game a couple of weeks and it's one of those games that keep's dragging you back. I played it all day last Sunday and was determined to get a win, eventually I got two, back to back but haven't won again since! With the wins and the concentration came a muzzy headache. You have to play this properly. Do the practices, get the upgrades and then qualify then race oh and set the car up for the right conditions. However, even when you do the lot it's no guarantee of success. After eight tracks I'm 5th in the driver Championship with Williams F1. One slight lack of concentration and your off the track. Pit at the wrong time and your pole position can go to waste (if you manage to achieve one) and you watch as you drop to 17th or even worse. Other cars can 'mirage' through your car when you enter the pit lane. That said it's challenging and really enjoyable and the graphics are superb. Update: It's now a few weeks after buying the game and I can say I've finally cracked it. First five races yesterday (yes I have no life) I won them all except Monaco, which is awful. Great game, great detail, the interviews are annoying as are post race interviews but overall it's very enjoyable!

Alright before i bought this i looked at the review and found that a few people had been slating it off. However when I bought it i found out that none of these faults were true. My save data is still there and for people who'spit stops took 20 seconds go and return it for a new one and try again. (My longest stop has been around 5 seconds, also the current rules require you to wait!). I'm new and took on team Lotus because I have a friend who works there. I put it on easy and found that i could put a car that was in real life around the back at the back of the grid on pole!! Needles to say I didn't win the race due to the car spinning and costing me time. Yes you can spin much more easily now than in previous games, it's annoying but fun as you never know when you might suddenly loose the back end. Anyway thought I would turn up the difficulty as I'm in a Lotus and winning the drivers championship and constructors (by myself, my team mate has no points) so up to medium i go and i find that it is slightly more difficult and it removes part of the racing line and only shows it in the corners.
The graphics are amazing and i mean it. The detail is amazing and in the rain you can sometimes hardly see a thing due to the rain on the tv screen. (In the wet be very careful when driving). The animations are totaly realistic, for when you win you raise your hands in triumph. It would be nice to go on the podium but the after race interviews are interesting. The main thing I'm yet to see is the damage that can be done to the car. I mean i'm yet to turn it up past medium at the moment but i spun around and Hamilton hit me, now i'd have expected to have lost my front wing but Lewis loses his then pits and then i take his position as i carry on driving. I later found you can turn it off so you do get damage and the aniamtions for that are fantastic. Sometimes i'd crash just to see the replay! Fantastic game 5/5

Had this game delivered yesterday and as an avid fan of F1 I have been waiting patiently since Formula One CE on the PS3. This game delivers on every front. It has answered almost everything I want from an F1 game.
Before you start the game you give details about yourself at a press conference which allows those details to be used in career mode i.e. name nationality, ambitions, how meany seasons I was competing and from there I selected a quick play option for testing. To test the game I ran a McLaren at Singapore in a practise session to get used to the handling. The first thing you notice is the attention to detail, as I elected to leave the pits you see the engineers bolt on your tyres choice, your engineer on the radio and your trolley guide, guiding you out of the pits where you control the speed up to the limiter, that series of events alone is enough to tell you this game is impressive. On track the handling is great, with so many custom control choices to help the most inexperienced drivers, options include, traction (which new F1 cars don't actually have now), ABS, brake assist, corner guides, auto / manual gears, pit limiter auto/manual etc. Even for the first few laps where I struggled for handling / grip I still loved the details, bits of rubber ripping off your tyre across the kerbs, accurate and timely damage when I torpedo the barriers and all packaged with a real sense of speed and on the edge of control. The career mode offers a different challenge to previous F1 games, where the game menus see you in your motor home (similar to previous codemaster games) allowing you options to check your stats, change your helmet, speak to the press or start the next race. In career your main aims are to develop the car, fulfil the teams requirements and beat your team mate (who doesn't take a beating lying down). I raced a 15 lap race weekend at Bahrain, and from being at the track in person I can honestly say that it is a very accurate digital copy from trees, paint and stands to tents and other off track objects. Details are accurate about limited tyre choices, and forced pitstops through the race to swap tyres. I spent the whole 15 laps ensuring to beat my team mate who I traded places with throughout the race. The AI is one aspect which has been nailed properly by codemasters (one example is Trulli in front of me pulling into the middle of the track at each big corner to block my attempts). Other details through the race I noticed were the use of rules (I left my speed limiter on and received a drive through), temperature management of your car (you can't follow other cars for too long - like real life) Even though I finished 13th it felt like a win to me and now I am on to the next race in my 7 year campaign. Still to see rain and weather but I do believe that's something special, also I haven't played online yet but from the back of the box I think you get up to 12 people racing. But arguably one of the most refined racing games out right now and an essential purchase for avid racers and novices alike. 2115|RF8CB7NNV4WLV;2115|R2OFQC4SF9WKU5;2115|R1ZCZN0F8IRDKK;
