First time i heard this last summer, i turned it off. It wasn't til recently that i faced another listen after i heard someone quoting Art Brut lyrics.
I wouldn't say they were a comedy band, but the lyrics to this song get me in stitches.
"and yes, this is my singing voice, it's not irony, it's not rock and roll... just talking... to the kids!"
B-side, Bad Weekend: "haven't read the NME in so long, dunno what genre we belong"
speaks volumes for many indie darlings of now, they're very existance at times re-affirmed by the tired (yet addictive) old music rag.
Don't buy this and listen to it in all seriousness. Not that it's not great, it is, but it's not a classic song for its remarkable playing or voice is all. Give it a chance, i didn't at first, but it's fab - even if only for its sing-along qualities.
