About the Author
Shirley Clarke is an assessment consultant and trainer who is highly regarded by classroom teachers for her down-to-earth, practical approach to formative assessment, as well as a hugely successful author with an international reputation. A former primary teacher and advisory teacher, she is a popular speaker who is much in demand. Her courses and training days for teachers, and ongoing involvement in classroom research, give her both credibility and a down-to-earth perspective on day-to-day classroom realities. She was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Greenwich in 2007.

I have now been to two lectures given by Shirley Clarke and they are superb, especially if you are a teacher and interested in assessment for learning. It all makes so much sense and her book is so readable and informative. Great material for inset and whole school policy and practice.

This book is a must-have for me as a trainee teacher.I have been using the ideas and will continue to use this book to inform my teaching. The theory, ideas and real classroom examples are invaluble. Highly recommended!

I read the predecessor (borrowed) to this book on a car journey and found it unputdownable and this one is just the same. Easy to read, super ideas, thought-provoking, with the sort of logic that you simply know is going to improve your teaching if you use it.
I've read a lot of teaching and teachers' books but nothing as useful and enjoyable as this!!! So glad I bought it - worth every penny, especially for those working in ISP schools or who want those 'outstanding' grades when inspected!

Interesting book but very expensive for 134 pages
I have only glanced through this book, so this is not a review of the content as such, although from the bits I have read, it does seem an interesting read. Read more
