3.0 out of 5 stars Useless without the Study Workbook!! 31 Dec 2009
By Kevin M. Chandler - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I just got the DVD planning to use it for a small group study. it is a collection of short videos (about 10 min. each) of Francis Chan talking about the topics in the Study Workbook, which hasn't been published yet! It is scheduled for release in March 2010! The videos are very well done and great if you have read the book, but there is no structure for a bible study at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Companion to the Book 9 Jan 2011
By The Parchment Girl - Published on Amazon.com
The DVD menu consists of seven chapters which correspond to the seven chapters of the book. The filming was done in various types of places. One segment was filmed in an old abandoned building, while another was filmed in a cafe. Each chapter is about ten minutes long. The DVD also includes a few extra features: a trailer of the Crazy Love DVD study guide, outtakes (which were definitely not as funny as the ones on the Crazy Love DVD), and a behind-the-scenes featurette.

The filming locations of this video study were not as interesting or visually entertaining as the ones in the Crazy Love DVD, but at least they filmed each segment at a different location. Chan speaks passionately on his topic and challenges readers with his words. This DVD is meant to be used in a group setting, but it may also prove helpful for individuals who want to mine deeper the message of the book. The quality of the production is excellent, and the soundtrack fits the theme of the book perfectly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than the Book 25 Mar 2010
By Christopher Bernard - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
There is nothing like hearing a voice, listening to the pauses, and seeing the expressions on the face of the person you are trying learn from. Written words are great, but often much is lost in translation. This is why Francis Chan's DVD companion to his book, Forgotten God, is great. Frankly, I like it better than the book because Chan is just a better preacher than he is a writer. Plus, the DVD helps highlight what he thinks is most important in an expanding conversation about the Holy Spirit.

On a side note, there were a couple of themes in his book I really didn't care for, but none of them popped up in the DVD.
