3.0 out of 5 stars Very informative but hard to read 22 Oct 2013
By John Spahr - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found this to be a very informative and interesting book. The author did a fine job of presenting, in great detail, many of the "forgotten" campaigns and battles of the war. Unfortunately, there were so many typos, mispunctuations and even words missing from the middle of sentences that it was a lot more effort to read and detracted from the book. I place this blame not on the author but on Amazon's transcription. Overall, it is certainly worth reading even though it is more difficult to do so with the problems mentioned above.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, even for those who know the subject well 19 Sep 2013
By NY Fan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Most of us have our specific areas of interest with World War II, but this book is a wonderful survey of lesser known battles. I had read about the Battle of Kursk, but knew nothing about the Aleutian islands campaign, for example. The author displays both an excellent knowledge of the subject and a flair for storytelling, giving the reader a sense of the drama and significance of each battle. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating 19 Sep 2013
By Megan M. Cummins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I encountered no trouble with formatting or typos in my download. The subject of this book is engaging and surprising...I was hooked by the introduction. As always, Joseph Cummins captivates the reader with his deft and lovely prose, making this e-book not just interesting and informative but a real pleasure to read. I would recommend this not just for history buffs but anyone looking for something good to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little-known history, beautifully told 16 Sep 2013
By Thomas Craughwell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I read a lot of history books, and I've even written a few. What I enjoy especially are books that tell me something I did not know, that cast the spotlight on some fascinating but overlooked historical event. That's what Forgotten Battlefields does. It is packed with chapter after chapter of remarkable accounts of important battles of World War II that, for whatever reason, haven't gotten much/any attention from WWII historians. And it is beautifully written, not to mention impressively researched. Author Joseph Cummins is a pro--I've read several of his other works of history, and they always impress me. Read Forgotten Battlefields, and then go out and buy Cummins' other books. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very well researched. 18 Jan 2014
By Thebreaker - Published on Amazon.com

I have now read this account of the forgotten battles twice, and will no doubt read it again as it is such a well researched and great read. Some of the "Forgotten battlefields" were familiar to me, but some others I have never heard of, until I read this most fascination account of the confrontations
I do commend this publication to like minded historical buffs and hope you have the same amount of interest from the accounts as I did when reading of them..
