To the outside world, Lizzie McGlynn’s father was a model citizen. To little Lizzie he was a violent and depraved monster.
For years, Lizzie was raped and beaten by her father, whilst her alcoholic mother stood by, helpless. She eventually found the courage to report him and her father was imprisoned - but 12 weeks later he was allowed to return to the family home and continue his reign of terror. He seemed to be above the law.
Battered and violated, Lizzie knew she had to stay alive to protect her two little brothers. She went on to escape her father’s evil clutches, but the physical and mental scars continued to haunt her.
Then, as her father lay dying, she summoned the strength and courage to forgive the man who had caused her so much pain.

Survival,
By
This review is from: I Forgive You, Daddy (Paperback)
As a Survivor of abuse I found this book an inspirational yet tragic story of a child's fight for survival. Her violent father tore Lizzie a young girl apart piece by piece in his reign of physical and sexual torture as the adult world around her failed to recognise what was happening. Lizzie suffered what no child should have to endure and it went from bad to worst. Just as things start to look up in her bleak world what comes next took me by suprise. Blow by blow this remarkable woman tells her story in a way you can't help but be be drawn into her life so be prepared to explore your emotions when reading this book. Lizzie's love for her siblings never faltered as she assumed the role of mother and just when she found the courage to speak up she was failed by the very system that should of protected her and with devastating consequences. This book is well written, captures the full cycle of abuse and the long term damage it does to a child. I forgive you daddy highlights further that every abused child grows up and the impact it has on them as an adult. I strongly recommend this book and I thank Lizzie for sharing her life with us. With love to a very courageous woman Lizzie McGlynn

A shocking account of what a little girl had to endure whilst growing up but, well worth reading.Lizzie tells the story of her abusive life and the so called system that let her and her siblings down. Despite everything she managed to pull through and become the stronger person she is today.
