4.0 out of 5 stars A good adventure, if a little long, 8 Dec 2002
By A Customer
Now, before I saw the Forge of Fury, I said to myself, "right, Im going to make my own adventures up for once, 'cos buying them is cheating".

Then I found the forge of fury.

Although I have not yet finished playing it with my d&d group, I must say that I am very impressed. The standard is excellent, and some of the ideas presented I wouldn't have come up with in a million years! Although it lacks a strong storyline, it is a very good "stand alone" adventure, and is quite easy to fit into your campaign.

It is designed for 3rd level characters, and, so far, seems to have been thoroughly playtested. All the encounters are well balanced, and for once I could give my party a challenge! It even comes with a new monster - the subterreanean lizard, which looks pretty good (althoguh I havent tested it with my teammates yet).

On the whole, I think that this adventure is superb, and particularly well balanced - all the classes and races have a part that they can play in it, not just the DWARVES on the team! The only criticism that I would make is that it may be a bit too long. As I only have the chance to play dnd for 6 hours every three weeks, it is going to take me at least 5 play sessions to complete, if not longer. However, I suppose that each group is different, and some groups may just choose to chop or add bits out as they choose - after all, its your adventure.

Buy it! Trust me; its well worth it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Classic dungeon hack or tasteless blancmange?, 4 Jun 2001
Forge of Fury is a Dungeons and Dragons adventure designed for a party of 3rd level characters. This somewhat slender book is surprisingly packed with a large amount of information. Handy sidebars litter the pages giving the DM useful spot rules and details at his fingertips, while the pages themselves are well laid out making running the adventure a smooth and painless exercise. The interior artwork is average but the maps are clear and precise. So far, so good. Now come the niggles. The plot, or lack of, is a tired, unoriginal foray into the fantasy archives. Ok, maybe they wanted a 'back to basics' type game that would appeal to a younger audience. If so, they got it. But if you were expecting an original role-playing extravaganza that would test your players wit and ingenuity, you may be better off giving this one a miss. Overall then; a thin, well-presented fossil suitable for younger players. A bit like Pat Sharp.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good adventure, 25 April 2001
By A Customer
Well, what can I say. Our group played this adventure a short while ago, with me as the DM. And it is indeed a very nice one too. The placings of all the critters and treasures is very logical, the background story is clear and if necessary it's relatively easily adaptable for a group of adventurer's of a higher level. Hehe the ancient dwarven traps were actually a lot of fun, and my players now have an innate fear of tapestries and rugs. And the role-playing opportunities provided quite a few strange looks from players too :).

It may be a bit long as an adventure since after all it does consist of a single, albeit large and well-designed dungeon, that would be the only minor negative point I guess. So if your adventurers are still rather low-level, buy this one, you won't regret it.

Björn
