Here I Go Again

Whitesnake are an English rock band, founded in 1977 by David Coverdale (formerly of Deep Purple). The band's early material has been compared by critics to Deep Purple but by the mid 1980s Whitesnake had moved away from the early blues influenced hard rock to a more commercial heavy metal style. Whitesnake was named the 85th greatest hard rock band of all time by ... Read more in Amazon's Whitesnake Store

Product Description

CD Description

Whitesnake, the legendary rock n roll legacy founded and formed by renowned singer/songwriter David Coverdale, unleashes a brand new storming Snake statement, Forevermore in March 2011. Their 11th studio album, Forevermore was recorded, produced and mixed by Coverdale, guitarist Doug Aldrich and Michael McIntyre at Snakebyte Studios and Grumblenott Studios & Villas in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, with additional work at Casa Dala, Sherman Oaks, CA, and Whitesnake will take to the road for a full world tour in support of the release. Formed in 1977, and steered by the legendary Coverdale, Whitesnake carry a rightful reputation as one of the world s leading rock n roll bands. Coverdale s blues roots, combined with a feral sense of rockin and rollin , have consistently shaped the Snake s sound, and add to that Coverdale s love and appreciation of impeccable musicianship and you have a failsafe recipe for success. Their ascent to the very top of the rock n roll tree was confirmed with 1987 s self-titled multi-platinum album, which saw two top 10 hits, two number one singles with Here I Go Again and Is This Love and a virtual 24 hour domination of MTV around the world. Such triumphs were surely foretold when as a young man from Saltburn-By-Sea, Coverdale enthusiastically answered the call to be Deep Purple s singer. Such bombast, bravado, talent and passion have thus helped establish Whitesnake as the perennial platinum favourite they have become. With Forevermore Coverdale has reignited an explosively fruitful vein of creativity with guitarist and co-writer/producer Aldrich, Reb Beach (Winger, Alice Cooper) on guitar, Brian Tichy (Ozzy, Billy Idol, Foreigner) on drums and Michael Devin (Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Lynch Mob) on bass, and as with all Whitesnake s albums, Coverdale (aided so capably by Aldrich) opens up his heart and soul to express emotions and empathy rarely heard these days in any musical genre. More than simply their latest release, Forevermore represents Whitesnake s no holds barred, most heartfelt, melodic and musically muscular excursion for many a year. The album s release will be anticipated by the digital only release of the first single/videoclip Love Will Set You Free on February 21st. The videoclip of the song will be included, along with a documentary about the album recording sessions also including extensive interviews with David Coverdale and the other band members - on a DVD which will accompany the release of the album. Forevermore will be specially released on a Snake pack edition for the first 3 weeks in England only. This very special release arranged in conjunction with Future Publishing and Classic Rock magazine - will come with a collectors edition 132 pages deluxe magazine + A1 poster & metal pin badge and shall feature an exclusive cover art and 2 bonus live tracks Slide It In and Cheap An Nasty which will serve as an appetizer for the forthcoming Live at Donington 1990 DVD to be released in the summer 2011. This time Coverdale and Co. have really laid it on the line for their fans, and be sure of this, the Snake s charms are going to convert a whole new army of believers... just watch.

In the year 2008 David Coverdale gave us the Good To Be Bad album which was the best Whitesnake since the 1987 album. Now in 2011 Whitesnake gives us the very good Forevermore album which is nearly on par with their last album. The first track "Steal Your Heart Away" is a rip roaring rock song which shows Coverdale's voice is on good form and has a great guitar solo. "All Out Of Luck" and "Love Will Set You Free" are both your typical Whitesnake style rock songs. For me two of the better tracks are the softer rock songs "Easier Said Then Done" and especially the title track "Forevermore" is most brilliant. The song "One Of These Days" has some really nice acoustic guitar being played and Coverdale's voice sounds very soulful on this track too. The boys really rock it out big time on the track "Whipping Boy Blues". Overall this is a excellent rock album and the only slight negative thing I can say is that maybe some of the songs sounded a bit over familiar because of Coverdale's writing style.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best For a While 1 April 2011
By Alex
Format:MP3 Download
In the title song from the album David Coverdale sings, 'Time and time again I sing the same refrain.' While that is literally true of the endings of some of the songs here, a couple so protracted they would embarrass The Eagles, it is also figuratively correct when related to Whitesnake in general and this album in particular. This is Coverdale, doing what he has always done very well, and to fans and enthusiasts that will be the album's strength, to the detractors it will be its weakness. We have all the usual Whitesnake themes in both melodies and lyrics. e.g. Need - Want- Love - Lady Luck - Gambler - Storms - Bad Since I Was Born etc. and long time fans will recognise many of the tunes, or bits of the tunes at least, from previous songs. When Dogs In The Street started I was sure the first vocal would be the barking howl which starts Bad Boys from the 1987 album. There are nods in the direction of almost every phase of the Coverdale career, from the Deep Purple scream in My Evil Ways to the Coverdale-Page echo distorted vocal which appears here on Whipping Boy Blues. Other instantly recognisable items are the sequencing of tracks, get the rocker in first, the tasteful use of acoustic guitars, those same acoustic intros building and becoming electric as the song goes on, and even the guitar tones at times are a perfect match for songs going back as far as Belgian Tom's Hat Trick from 1978's Trouble. I am a fan, so all of the above is good news for me. If you are like me, want more of the what attracted you to the band in the first place, and were disappointed by the odd departure from the tried and tested formula over the years, I would recommend this album. Below is the review I posted previously. I am revising it. That album has grown on me and it is now in a loop at home and in the car. I have to say I was wrong and some other reviewers were right. This IS the best in a long long time, all great songs, killer riffs, great vocals, and David is still more amazing than ever. Now I am considerign this as the best post-Moody they have done. Outstanding.

I totally agree with the one of the previous reviewers. I heard this was "ready and willing" grade material and when I listened to it first, I wanted to believe it so much that I even ... made myself believe it for a while (having been somewhat disappointed with the previous album they did). Well it is definitely not the right "good old Snake" stuff. Pleasant album, nice band, but very far away from the best days.
Still, I pay respect to David for his longevity, he may have lost the edge vocally, but I have lost the edge in many things I was doing when younger myself (;-)) with all due modesty), so can we expect David to remain untouched by age? he remains very special to me, one of my first idols from when I started to listen to music, and I thank him for still making albums (I guess he is rich enough to stop?).
Nice job, David.

5.0 out of 5 stars A consistently good album. 2 May 2013
Format:Audio CD
I really enjoyed the 2008 album "Good to be Bad",it was a real hard-rocking affair and up there with some of Whitesnakes best stuff in my opinion.
Then in 2011 along came "Forevermore" and this 'snake album is incredibly's genuinely difficult to fault any of the tracks.
It's in a more blues/rock style, which is mostly due to Doug Aldrich's excellent song writing and arrangement skills and the guitar riffs he lays down, which in turn, gives this album great variety in terms of the tracks on offer here.
David Coverdale's voice still exudes the same weight, power and authority it always has and there's little doubt that he is putting out some awesome stuff at this point in his musical career.
Difficult to pick a favourite song with this album but I would have to go with the first and last numbers, that being the rockin' "Steal Your Heart Away" and the epic "Forevermore".
