Mary Lee's memoir of her life with one of Scotland's best-loved entertainers is a must-read for fans of variety theatre, Scottish cultural history, and of course the partnership that Jack Milroy (and Rickie Fulton) was best-known for, Francie & Josie. A Scottish showbiz legend herself, Mary Lee proves she's no slouch when it comes to writing. She evokes brilliantly, not only the trajectory of Jack's career and their own relationship, but also an era pre and post-WW2, when times were hard, but variety theatre was flourishing. Mary's story on its own is worthy of a book - the child singing star who leaves Glasgow for London to sing with the prestigious Roy Fox Orchestra, and who undoubtedly would have gone on to even greater things - the movies perhaps - if not for the outbreak of war.

Laced with gallus Glasgow humour, FOREVER FRANCIE, is a treat, and a walk down memory lane that will delight Scots everywhere.

As a Glaswegian, I grew up to the One O'Clock Gang, White Heather Club and Five Past Eight Show,
Francie & Josie, Parliamo Glasgow, and the Rev I.M. Jolly.
All were part of my (TV & Theatre) formative years.

As Mum is now in a Care Home with mild dementia, it has been suggested that tools like a "Reminiscence Room"
could be a help.
Although now out of print, we tracked this book down. Not quite in as good condition as suggested, but serviceable and one of our presents for Mum in the Care Home she entered a month ago, when we see her on Christmas Day in Glasgow.
