'Witty, warm and humourous ... family reading par excellence.'

(Carousel )

'A crazily fantastic story with loads of mad and hilarious moments.'

(Independent on Sunday )

'It does what we hope JK Rowling would do: it makes everything you wish for come true, including the unlikeliest of outcomes.'

(Sunday Times )

'Hilary McKay's wittily observed portrayals of family life are full of warmth, vitality and irrepressible good humour.'

(Kate Agnew, The Guardian )

'just the sort of crazy family you ache to be a part of.'

(The Good Book Guide )

'it's wonderful to have more stories about the engaging and uncommon Casson family!'

(Parents Express )

'... we are so fond of this fresh, funny, foolish, wise, real family.'

(The Horn Book Magazine )

'... as wild and endearing as ever ... Another charmer for Casson fans.'

(Booklist )

'... touching and hiarious. Beautifully crafted descriptive language makes this offering a real gem.'

(School Library Journal )

'McKay has a genius for domestic comedy.' (The Sunday Times )

'Hilary McKay's strength lies in her understanding of young people and her ability to evoke them very simply.' (The Guardian )

'Warm, witty and wise, with unfeasibly broad appeal and proven anti-depressive properties, i would give this book to 9-year olds, teenagers and their parents.'

(Sunday Telegraph )

'... hugely entertaining story effortlessly recreates a tightly knit world, imbued with a strong sense of belonging - a slice of childhood so multi-layered, touching and real that there's something for every child reader to identify with and savour. Here's a book that truly proves the joys to be had from reading.'

(Books for Keeps )

'stylishly written, acutely observed, light-headed and often very funny. At times, it's also incredibly touching and insightful, particularly when dealing with the complexities of family life ... quality writing for children.'

(School Librarian )

Product Description

It's the Casson Family finale, and Permanent Rose takes centre stage.

It's tough being the youngest - Rose is lonely. Her family are always busy doing their own things so Rose comes home to a dark, quiet, empty house every day. Saffy is off with Sarah, Indigo has his paper round and guitar lessons, Eve's in quarantine in the shed, Bill's not much use in London, and who knows where Caddy is since she disappeared with Michael's postcards! The only one around is David and Rose would rather be alone than be with him!

At least Rose still has her friends at school: the brilliant Kiran and the nice but boring Molly. But school is no longer a peaceful place where Rose can daydream. Mean Mr Spencer is always shouting about SATs. And now hes cancelled Christmas! But one thing Mr Spencer cant cancel is the Christmas School Trip which means Rose can help Molly with her ONE BIG IDEA ... but what could that be?

Will it be a very merry Christmas for Class 6 and the Casson family?

Hilary McKay's Casson Family series is absolutely wonderful. The books are definitely written for children, but they are so funny that adults can read them with equal enjoyment. The Cassons are a chaotic, artistic family and the stories are about the everyday drama of family life. The reader grows very fond of all the family members (scatty but loving mother, errant but charming father and four brilliantly drawn children, Caddy, Saffy, Indigo and Rose). It's not at all sentimental, but has real warmth and humour.

Wonderful! 20 Feb 2010

This is a wonderful book and definitely my favourite out of the entire series. It had me laughing out loud all the way through, especially since Rose is such an amazingly witty narrator. I'm really going to miss reading new adventures about the Casson family, but I know that I'll be able to read this book over and over and never tire of it!

Forever rose 16 April 2009
By BJW
Format:Paperback
Forever Rose is a story about the artistic casson family. This book is a sequel to the other casson family storys and I recomend you read Saffy's angel first. This is written in first person like Caddy ever after and unlike the first 3 of her books. This is a must to read to round off the seris and the age range of this book may be lower that her others.I recomend this for 9 to 14 year olds.
