Format: Paperback
The forest "tangled web of enchantment" as it has been described, has for millenia inspired the weaving of myths and legends. Past generations have believed it's "deep and solemn shadows" to harbour numerous creatures - deoms and wood nymphs, fairies and witches. Forests were also vital to the rituals and beliefs of many religions - the Sacred Groves of the Druids; the Forbidden Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge; the Arabian Zakkum tree planted to torment the wicked.
From rowan trees so feared by witches, to the Scandanavian Wood Ash which, springing from the primal Abyss, hold up the Earth, to the ferocity of Norman forestry laws. the mythological and historical role of the greenwood is brought to life in this absorbing book.....

Format: Paperback
The Lore of the Forest delves into the forgotten world when trees covered a greater part of the world; here we meet Sacred Groves and Tree Nymphs Elves and Dwarfs in a loose threading of all things hidden from view in the wildwoods from which mankind found his origins. Much woodland lore finds its expansion here from many locations on earth, not only European legends and lore is covered.
A book written to appeal to anthropologist, nature lovers and new agers or pagans here is a worthy addition to wood lore.
