The follow-up ro the Dance The Devil album is a logical progression in sound and style. With beautiful odes to love and loss (Headlong, Lay Me Down, Giving Me Wings) imbued with a hint of old school country, and with rousing anthemic tunes like Mighty Sword and Santa Maria, the songwriting skills of Glen Hansard have never been so finely tuned to produce excellence. A record made with passion and love, beautifully soothing, and ideal for long winter evenings by a roaring fireside. Great stuff

this album is amazing, everyone should own it. the subtley and the way the songs build from nothing to big climaxes is amazing. the raw passion of songs like lay me down (which is the best song ever in my humble opinion) and friends and foe, then the slow build-ups and near sexual release of songs like santa maria. it's just fantasic understated music, stuff that sends tingles down the back of your spine. it's a mix of U2 and damien rice. this should be a must in anyone who can appreciate good music's cd collection. buy it!!

In short, one of the most enjoyable listens ever recorded. Perfect for long wintry evenings sprawled out in front of the fire, it sounds as fresh now as it did when I bought it over a year ago.

amazingly beautiful
