Book Description

Alexander, Earl of Thorne, thought he finally had found the woman of his dreams. But when Sarah fled just weeks after their wedding, his world came crashing down. Five years later, he has given up hope of ever finding her, until a freak accident strands him in a remote Yorkshire village where she is hiding.

Sarah dared to hope she was finally safe. But when her husband is thrust back into her life, she fears her dark secrets—and the fact that she has a son—will come to light. Though her heart longs to reclaim the love they once shared, Sarah rejects Alexander’s offers of reconciliation. But fate is not so easily thwarted...

Forced from their home by a flood, Sarah and her child have no choice but to accept Alexander’s hospitality in her former home. Yet with each passing day, the risk of discovery grows, threatening to drive Sarah from Alexander’s life forever. Is their love strong enough to triumph over the secrets of the past? Or will life’s cruel forces finally tear them apart?

Review

Rating: 5 blue ribbons
"When Sarah absconded from her marriage to Alexander five years ago she thought she’d never have cause to see him again. She was wrong! Alexander’s back in her life, and her home thanks to an injury. She’s very afraid he’ll break down her resistance and discover her secrets - something she cannot allow to happen. Happily-ever-after isn’t necessarily a given; sometimes it’s a struggle through much uncertainty, deceptions and forgiveness – and if you’re very lucky then you’ll ‘win’ that esteemed status. Hazel Statham’s FOR LOVE OF SARAH takes readers on just such a journey as Sarah and Alexander struggle with their emotional baggage and Sarah’s unwillingness to share her troubles. As a reader I was frustrated by Sarah and Alexander’s stubborn pride and self-sacrificing attitudes and hated how it was tearing them apart but at the same time I could understand it as well. Zander’s innocent acceptance of each situation and easy affection is irresistible and draws the three of them closer together. As for Sarah’s terrible secret… well, some secrets need to be brought out into the open because nothing good can come from letting that sort of ugliness fester. FOR LOVE OF SARAH is a captivating regency romance that proved to be impossible to put down and has me eagerly awaiting more of Ms. Statham’s writings in the future."
-Chrissy Dionne, The Romance Junkies, online December 2012”

About the Author

Hazel Statham began writing at the age of fifteen, finally committing to paper the stories she spun as a child. Writing has been her passion ever since, although marriage, motherhood, and career left time for little else. Once she retired, however, she was able to devote herself to writing full-time, publishing her first novel in 2007. A longtime student of history, she writes mainly in the Regency and Georgian eras, though she has been known to dabble in the medieval as well. She lives in Staffordshire, England, with her husband, Terry, and their beloved yellow Labrador, Mollie.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like Hazel Statham's Regency romances 17 Mar. 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I like Hazel Statham's Regency romances. She is perhaps the closest to the traditional Georgette Heyer novel. The writing is good and the plot rattles along. I did have a little difficulty with the main concept of this novel at first, but was able to suspend disbelief and enjoy it.

This is a nice book to take on holiday or to fill a few hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyed it the second time around. 18 Dec. 2014

Loved this traditional Regency romance. It was easy to empathise with both the hero and the heroine. Full of the usual misunderstandings and twists and turns of the plot.

2.0 out of 5 stars No secret is worth this much hassle 26 Feb. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The problem with this book is that the big secret that forced Sarah to abandon Alexander five years ago should have been truly shocking and life changing but it really wasn't. There is so much focus on the reason Sarah leaves that when you find out none of the book makes any sense. There are better versions of this story available.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor 27 Dec. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Poor plot, very predictable outcome, to the point that the story became boring. The main female character was in my opinion quite pathetic and her husband could only be fiction...No male could possible behave like him. All in all only worth two stars.
