Howard Roffman has cornered a market in the sensuous photography of beautiful Bel Ami models. In this book, the guys are beautiful, the scenery is beautiful and the photography is beautiful. There is the usual mix of the playful, the sultry and the erotic but I felt that this book was a bit of a photographic pot-boiler. It is too similar to what Roffman has done before and the spark of originality is missing. Which is not to say that some of the guys are not adorable.

A Quartet of Beauties in Paradise 13 April 2012
By Grady Harp - Published on
Format: Hardcover
Howard Roffman has long been respected for his books that feature the extraordinarily handsome an sensuous models form the famous organization called Bel Ami. In this book Roffman left his San Francisco headquarters and set out for a shooting on the isle of Bali, taking with him four amazingly striking lads (the Kinky Angels) - gymnast Adam Archuleta, racing enthusiast Andre Boleyn, the smart and endowed Jack Harrer and the new Czech model Kevin Warhol. Lukas Ridgeston served as the official videographer.

What Roffman celebrates here is the beauty of the land and the atmosphere of Bali and places his models in this scenic paradise where a lot of things happen - surfing, sightseeing, swimming, involvement with the island animals, and of course lots of preening and interaction with each other. There is an inherent innocence in the postures of these young men and Roffman captures that quality, making the very intimate scenes sensuous and fresh. The book is published on the finest quality paper and the color photography is rich in saturated tones.

As with all of Roffman's collections, this set of images honors the transcendent beauty of youth - playful, longing, tender, and romantic. Roffman's written introduction set a great mood for what is to follow in his talented hands and imagination. This book will serve a very wide audience! Grady Harp, April 12

Beautiful images, when you can see them 26 July 2013
By S. Carter - Published on
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This is a book filled with absolutely GORGEOUS photography of drop-dead beautiful young men in various stages of undress. Roffman captures a delightful combination of allure, sensuality, capriciousness, innocence and passion. The lighting is perfect, the angles interesting and creative, the themes ultimately and unabashedly masculine.

So why are so many of these photos spread across two pages, with the models right on the crease? Roffman's work is often cut in half by poor layout choices, and the viewer is forced to threaten the integrity of the book's spine to see the whole image. For a $70+ book, they could have sprung for a few fold-outs instead of cheapening the end product this way.

"Sexy of the Highest Order" 6 Jun. 2012
By Terrance Richard - Published on
Format: Hardcover
Howard Roffman has been photographing beautiful men for years and now in this new book "For the Love of Bali" he really has reached the zenith point in his career. Some of the most beautiful men of the Bel Ami Modelling Agency are shot in exquisite and gorgeous settings that will leave you breathless and amazed. Full frontal shots of men are shown with amazing backdrops that only enhance the men's bodies.

A great gift for that woman in your life or your gay pal or boyfriend. You will never look at men the same after seeing this book.

Anyone in love with the Kinkys should not resist this amazing photo documentary of the Kinkys (plus Todd) in Bali. Since I received my copy, I haven't let it any further than arm's reach. Howard Roffman has achieved perfection in the quality and selection of material for this book. "Love" is the operative word in the title. As I pondered each image, waves of love coursed me. While deeply erotic, this is not porn. Beauty, tenderness, romance, color, sparkle, nature, peace, rest, meditation, affection, friendship, curiosity, awe, amazement, Dorothy (you'll have to read the book!), and too many other descriptors to list here, informed my first quick scan of the pages. Then came an even deeper appreciation of Howard's achievement. I thought I could instantly decide on a few favorite pages, but found it impossible. Each set (some juxtaposing a scene from nature with a scene of one or more of the beautiful boys) was a revelation for me. Todd Rosset and Jack Harrer are two of the most beautiful men in the world. Kevin Warhol is, without any competition, the sexiest. Until this book, I hadn't really fully appreciated the special appeal of Andre Boleyn and Adam Archuleta. Now I love them both. This may be Howard's last book for a while. His web site says he's pursuing other interests. He's very busy with his new job. If this is his last, it is our loss. I sense that this book was a special labor of love for Howard. His parting words are: "This book is for Igor." I wish them both endless happiness together.
BALI ... BEL AMI ... ROFFMAN - what a trio! 11 Feb. 2014
By Anthony McGill - Published on
Format: Hardcover
Ah ... Bali! Where it seems most Australians spend their leisure time these days. Never had the good fortune of making the trip there myself but if I could be guaranteed of finding some of these scrumptious Bel Ami boys waiting for me, I'd be on the next flight! This is another lovely Howard Roffman full color photo book with the usual stunning images starring a beautiful cast of players. An added bonus is the obvious beauty of Bali which Roffman has included with some extra nice shots of native flora and fauna. And let's face it, with the tropical beauty of the island as a background and the sheer joy, charm and sexuality of the Bel Ami boys in the foreground, where could you go wrong Mr. Roffman? Nice to even see a few shots of the boys out surfing with clothes on. But for most of this book they are totally naked and enjoying all the freedoms of youth. More of a romantic travelogue than an erotic one, although I'm not sure there is a difference when it comes to Bel Ami. Also comes with an informative introduction by the author with cute snapshots of the boys taking in the sights.
