Book Description

While deployed overseas, his mission classified, the heartfelt letters Maximus writes are the only bits of communication Liberty receives during the year he is away. Her memories of him, along with a box full of letters, become her most prized possessions—that and the life growing inside her.

It’s not until communication stops, and the scheduled return of her Army hero comes and goes, that Libby begins to freak out. Her worry for his welfare, along with concern over her current situation, wreaks havoc on her once-solid nerves.

While she’s waiting for his return with bated breath, she clings to hope and remembers the words he once wrote: “A soldier doesn't fight because he hates what is in front of him. A soldier fights because he loves what he left behind.” The infamous quote is a constant reminder of why he chooses to fight: For Liberty.

Break out the fireworks and get ready to kick off your summer with this HOT new collection of stories. For Liberty is part of the Red Hot and BOOM! multi-author series (stands alone for reading enjoyment).

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 4 Jun. 2014

I honestly don't think there is 1 thing I have read of Rene Folsom's that I didn't adore! This woman is an absolute genius, whether is be a short story like this one or a full novel, she manages to create a world that totally sucks you in and doesn't let go till the very last page. In fact who am I kidding, I don't think her books have ever fully let me go and I plan to re-read them all at some point in the future. This is a fab short story, that pulls at the heart strings and I'm not ashamed to say I shed a tear or two reading the letters Max wrote home to Libby. This is such a wonderful story you can't help but wish there was more of it when you reach the last page. Truly brilliant!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Read 29 Jun. 2014

Max and Libby fell in love when they ran into each other after he returns home after a few years in the Army... too bad he get deployed, leaving Libby behind with no way to contact him after only a year and a half together.

Libby has a secret and wishes that she could contact Max to let him know, but she can't so she carries on with the burden all on her own.

Max is over seas fighting in the war, missing his love and hoping that she will still be there for him when he finally comes home, but with no way for her to contact him, he doesn't know if she will be.

This story is SUPER sweet and sexy. I loved how in love the couple was and how much they were dedicated and devoted to each other. I made me cry at the desperation they felt at times and the hardships they were dealing with alone. In the end another great read by Rene Folsom.

Highly recommended!!

This was a heart warming super quick read that I am glad I got the chance to read. Rene knocked it out of the park with this one. I wish this it was a full length novel, for the sole purpose of getting more of these fantastic characters. Rene has a talent for taking a story that would need hundreds of pages to be told, and giving it to you in a nice small package. She manages this without lacking in any areas of the story. Magic.

This novel is a short that follows Liberty and Maximus. While Maximus is deployed on a mission that limits communication, Liberty is home waiting for him. The only communication she gets are redacted letters from him sporadically. Without any idea of when he will truly return home, she awaits holding a secret that will rock his world.

Rene did a phenomenal job with this. Her depiction of finally getting to hold your spouse after those long months away? Perfect. I definitely recommend this for a light and uplifting read. Thanks Rene!

Really liked this book, it was a quick sweet read. Being that my father was a soldier and I have many relatives who were or are now, this story caught my attention. The author really made it feel like I was there feeling all the emotions. Many times the story of a soldier and/or his family end sadly but this one didn't it had a very heartwarming happy ending, which I like. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Liberty & Love! 4 Jun. 2014
By NarlyNut's Book Lovers - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a love story about a soldier named Maximus. He is deployed overseas on a classified mission. This means that the woman he left behind at home can not communicate with him. Liberty can receive letters from Max, but she cannot write back. This leaves them in a very big way of lack of communication for 14 months. The letters she gets and has mean the world to her and she reads them every day praying for his safe return. Being away on this mision leaves Max with the hope that when he returns Liberty will be waiting for him and not involved with someone else. Little does Max know..... Liberty is pregnant with his son.

I could NOT wait for Max to return to Libby! The fireworks and love in this story were scorching HOT with a lot of sensational bangs to go with it! Rene Folsom gives us another BOOM that will stay with you and long for more.

I'm not normally a huge fan of the secret baby trope since so many are done in a silly way (purely my opinion), but I loved this one! It was sweet and heartfelt and a perfect complement to the love story. You won't regret picking up this one!
