Could almost be classified as a "best of the best of" as it contains tracks from 3 original Kent LPS - for dancers only (9 tracks), for dancers also (6 tracks) and 3 tracks from Cookin with Kent.
They've all been lovingly remastered using the original tapes to remove hiss and improve the sound quality and you can really notice the difference with the clarity of the voices and instruments.
Most people associate 60's Soul with Motown and Stax and the more popular artists from the charts.
The sixties for some reason were such fruitful years in terms of music maybe the discovery of hallucinating drugs or the end of prohibition helped.
Or maybe with no x boxes or computers kids listened to music.
Looking at the artists and composers you see some familiar names Van McCoy, Ashford and Simpson, D Peoples, Ike Turner. The artists include Willie Hutch, Ike and Tina and ZZ Hill, but scratch under the surface and there is an abundance of talent on display here.
This is great Kent release and introduction to 60's soul at a great price 4 stars.
