Product Description

Product Description

First published in 1998 as a spin-off from the hugely popular annual Aerofilms Guide: Football Grounds, Football Grounds from the Air: Then & Now has now passed through three editions, with the second being published in 2001, the third in 2004 and the fourth in 2007. Covering each of the 92 clubs in the Premier and Football leagues, the book provides an historical view of the club s ground alongside a contemporary shot of the ground as it currently exists. Fully updated and revised, this new edition will include a number of clubs including Cardiff, Colchester and Rotherham who have completely relocated, whilst others such as Sheffield United, Oldham, Watford and Leyton Orient, for example have undergone significant changes. Apart from the changes to these grounds, the onset of automatic promotion/relegation between the league and conference now ensures that two clubs drop out from League 2 to be replaced by two from the conference. Whilst sometimes this results in former league clubs regaining their status, it can also mean that traditional non league teams such as Dagenham & Redbridge and Burton Albion can enter football s higher echelons whilst league teams such as Accrington, Aldershot and Exeter can return to the league after an absence of many years.

Interesting read 6 Jun 2008
Format:Paperback
I love old football grounds, for me the worse they are, the better the atmosphere.

This book gave a fantastic insight to how the football grounds of the 92 league teams of the 07/08 season, have changed throughout the years.

The first ground i looked at was my team, Crewe Alexandra, it was great to relive how the main terrace i used to stand on developed into the large stand it is now, and it gave a great recollection of the history of the ground.

It's like that with all the grounds, with a fantastic before and after picture of the ground, it was amazing to see how Stamford Bridge has changed over the years or the diffrence in the grounds of Highfield road and The Ricoh Arena.

A brilliant read for any football fan!

THere is one flaw to this book, and it seems to me a huge flaw. 90% of the pictures are from different angles. The "then" picture is from one angle, the "now" pictue is from another direction totally. It seems almost impossible to compare the photos. A little more work by the author would have sorted this in no time at all. A shame, it could have been so much better.
