Ahoy mates! It's time to hit the high seas.
I have yet to find a Mychael Black book that's let me down. Black's writing style is quick and kept me interested. I wanted to know what would happen to Ian and Silas. You might take a look at the number of pages in this story and think this book is short so the development isn't strong. I disagree. Yes, the book is short and yes, I wanted to know more about Silas and Ian's backgrounds beyond what is given, but it's nicely compacted and good for an afternoon read.
Did I mention the heat? Oh yes, there is heat. Goodness. Ian and Silas are so right for each other and reading about them coming together was fever-inducing. I felt the love they had for each other, even before they realized love was possible. Yes, this story is heavy on the sex, but I expect nothing less from a Mychael Black book.
Historicals aren't usually my thing. I don't know the lingo or what clothing was in fashion when. Sometimes that can be a detractor. But in the case of this book, I don't think so. Black's writing is tight enough and kept my attention well enough that I didn't think about the genre. I was absorbed in the characters and wanted to stay in their world longer.
If you want a pirate book with plenty of sex, then this might be the book for you.
