4.0 out of 5 stars A Hustle of a Movie 15 Mar 2012
By Jules TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
Hot off the heels from The in-Laws , Ryan Reynolds (The Proposal) & David Suchet (Agatha Christie's Poirot) team up in another budget movie. It follows a group of friends , Kevin (Reynolds) , Sam (Kirstin Booth -This Beautiful City) & Rob (Joris Jarsky -Survival of The Dead) , who have a game they play called, foolproof. Where in, they plan daring heists which they could complete using they're own real life skills/abilities , and get in & out unoticed without the use of violence. But, this is all they do, plan, they dont actually carry them out.

However, upon completing a recent plan they came up with, they find out it has been stolen by someone calling himself Leo Gillette (Suchet), and that if they dont steal some items for him, using they're plan, he will turn it over to the authorities. So they have no other option than to follow through on the plan rather than face jail or worse. But when the real pressure is on, it seems self preservation kicks into effect, friendship or not.

In conclusion, the story is well done & has many twists in it. The acting is very good for a budget film, and as in , The In Laws, David Suchet gives a stand out performance once again. The best way to sum up Foolproof , is that it's basically a full length movie version of an epsiode of BBC1's t.v show Hustle or the American version Leverage. I found it to be very enjoyable, so if you like shows akin to Hustle/Leverage then you will really like this i think. Reccomended.

Described as - "Kevin, Sam and Rob are founding members of a group which theorectically pulls off heists, known as Foolproof. Leo, a gangster, blackmails them into pulling off a real multi-million dollar heist. Now it's up to them to get out alive"

Ok so anything with Ryan Reynolds in is worth a watch, and he does bring a little cheesy comedy with him.

Similarly David Suchet is a brilliant actor and there is nothing to fault his performance in this film.

The on-screen chemistry with the other actors/actress is a little wooden and clunky, and the plot is something to be desired and somewhat predictable in places.

Overall, it's not Confidence or Heat, but it has a little comedy and an interesting ending. Worth a watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Film 19 Jan 2008
By M. R. Jones VINE™ VOICE

I bought this film primarily because of David Suchet who in my opinion makes anything good.
Well I was very happy to discover that the film itself is actually enjoyable in it's own right. An interesting story with some good thrills and exciting plot twists.
Ryan Reynolds is enjoyable and not annoying in his role. This was one concern as in many of his movies he can start to grate.
David Suchet steals every scene he is in, and it's a joy to see him in a role at the polar opposite of Poirot.
Good ideas, good plot, good story, great acting.....FAB FILM!
