Amazon.co.uk Review

Fed up of taking pills, renewing prescriptions and feeling no better? Well, why not opt for nutritious food which has been found to fight pain and has no nasty side effects? Dr Neal Barnard discusses various health problems that can be relieved by simple nutritious steps. For example did you know that a gram of ginger can help "knock out a migraine"?

Knowing your food and what natural functions they provide could be the medicine you need to feel better, according to this book. The book is well-written and divided into six sections which relate to different parts and functions of the body, whether it be conditions related to poor circulation, hormone-related problems or metabolic and immune problems, each section is subdivided and looks in-depth at health issues relating to these areas.

The author discusses the scientific side of each illness in a simple jargon-free way which aids the reader in understanding the cause of the illness and the nutritional effect food has on eliminating pain. Understanding the science justifies the reasons why the nutrients in the food work effectively. The book also provides exciting and tasty recipes that can turn low-fat, low-cholesterol recipes into your favourite meals.

Knowing more about your food and its qualities can ensure a positive step in a healthy direction. This book is informative, practical and could be the answer to soothe your everyday ailments. It is suitable for anyone who wants an enjoyable and educational read. --Louise Coyle

An authoritative, in-depth but easy to read account of how our choice of seemingly ordinary foods may unwittingly cause illness (and in some cases, cures for problems). Quite a revelation as I thought I was fairly clued up on this subject, but I discorvered some new ideas for treating migraines which I hadn't considered - though I don't know if I'm quite ready to try the strong coffee migraine cure yet! Recommended.

A wise man once said that the doctor of the future will prescribe foods to eat in order to maintain optimal health. Well, the future is here now with Dr. Barnard's book. Extremely well-researched, it contains the latest findings on the relationship between pain, disease and what we eat.

If you have back pain, headaches, endometriosis, cancer or any of the many disorders and diseases common today, read this book and you will probably get the relief you seek. Every doctor -- and every patient -- should have a copy of this fascinating, superb, life-saving book.

I lent this book to my mum who has has been suffereing with Rheaumotaid Arthritis, Lupis and Frequent headaches about 2 months ago. She has found the information extremely helpful and has consequently made changes to her diet with excellent results so far by not eating certain foods.

We recommend this book very much. Gone are the headaches and she looks and feels so much better.
