I love this book! As a Registered Nutritionist I am aware of how important it is to fuel our bodies correctly. But with an upcoming half marathon to run, I wanted to specifically increase my knowledge in sports nutrition.

This book cleverly translates complex science into simple facts and specific recommendations for individuals. Not only is it interesting and insightful, but the recipes provide the practical element to get you up and running!

The information provided is appealing to a wide and varied audience; from beginners to Olympic athletes, and those new to nutrition to the qualified health professionals.

I thoroughly recommend - I’m already starting to feel more confident about my own progress!

Highly recommended for anyone who is looking for a well researched, quality book with clear and practical information. I have read The Complete Guide to Sports Nutrition, The Complete Guide to Strength Training and Food for Fitness. I have found all three immensely useful, for the following reasons:

They are comprehensive, with scientific detail, but equally, are written with clarity and simplicity.

Very well structured and focus on practical ways for personal improvement.

The advice is realistic, with a clear understanding of the challenges that most people face in these areas.

Bottom line - excellent books written by an excellent author.

As a Dietitian, as well as member of a local triathlon club, it's great to see a sport's nutrition book that's evidence based. With so many mixed messages out there, this book helps sort out the dietary facts from fiction. Anita presents the latest scientific evidence on sport's nutrition in a way that's easy to understand, as well as providing advice to help put it into practice. For anyone who's interested in learning more about how diet can help their sporting performance, this book should be a must on the reading list.

I had owned and loved one of the previous editions of this book. I have recommended this book many times to people who wanted to know more about nutrition and eating to support their running, cycling and so on. My copy had gone missing so I snapped up this latest edition when it because available. It is a clear, practical and sensible summary of what and how to eat to support an active lifestyle. The book is based on up to date scientific advice and not cherry picked data or anecdotal evidence. Anita Bean knows her stuff and gives the reader the knowledge to make a real difference to their performance. This is one of the clearest, well-written and best books on sports nutrition and this latest edition has enhanced it further. I am looking forward to trying some of the recipes also.

This is a great book! I'm a personal trainer & use it loads at work! The information is all excellent and can be easily interpreted by professional and general public. There's lots of fun meal ideas & recipes included too taking away the heavy science that some books include. I used Anita Beans 'complete guide to sports nutrition' at university and still use it sometimes but 'food for fitness' is much easier applied to specific sports. The chapters are broken up into the type of sports (nutrition for running, nutrition for muscle endurance, nutrition for cycling. Great book! Would highly recommend it!!!

At last a nutrition book based on research not testimonials, opinions or epiphany's . It has a wide range of advice for different activities, and diets. It dispels myths and just gets to the heart of the matter. What I like most is that the author has incorporated the latest research not just churned the old tired information and that she is qualified to do so. The book is also properly referenced which is really important. Can highly recommend this book

This book is great, a good no-nonsense guide to eating and nutrition for all kinds of sportspeople. I've found it invaluable during marathon training and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. The guides to energy products and supplements cut through a lot of marketing hype to give you the info you really need. Would make a great present for a sporty person!

One of the best books I've read on this subject. After years of studying and running marathons this book has helped a lot in my education. I even featured this at the No.1 spot in my latest Christmas blog (joeyjjordan.com) for best buys for the festive season.
