Returning to Font for a 2nd time, with a group of climbers that have been coming to the area for years, I wanted a guide of my own to mark in climbs/maybe find some new climbing areas. The guide is well laid out, bright and colourful - and comparable to many of the older books that my friends have been using for years. It covers the main climbing areas, and covers some less popular climbs as well.

On each page there is a handy diagram-map of the boulders, making the routes easy to find, especially if following a circuit. Grades/colours are displayed next to route numbers in a little table on each page. Overall it's very well laid out, with plenty of extra room for notes etc. Each area also has a little description, with some handy hints about each area (e.g. quiet area, good on sunny days, exposed, high routes etc.)

The beginning of the book has a section of information on finding the right climbing shoes/how to spot etc., and also a little bit of climbing history/general Font info - making it suitable for first time boulderers/Font newcomers, but without wasting too much book space for the more experienced climber. The back also has a very brief 'where to stay/where to shop etc. section'.

The one thing that the book lacks is detailed info on the children's white/yellow circuits - they're mentioned, and their locations in the forest are highlighted, but maps/number of boulders aren't included. When we used the book in practice, there were also routes that hadn't been climbed for a while, and were quite slippy (and in some places unclimbable) - but this is to be expected with some of the less popular areas.

Overall, I am very happy with the book, and think that it is one of the best available at the moment.

The maps in this book are awful. Its really not that hard to get a decent map together but this book fails. I ended up taking photos of the maps in the parks when I visited as they were much more user friendly. Also I found a lot of the information was out of date.
