1.0 out of 5 stars Great, but really really rubbish... 3 Oct. 2012
Colour Name:White| Size:iPhone 3G / 4 Cable|Verified Purchase
PROS:
I ordered 4 but received 5...

CONS:
... for all the good that did me. I may as well have been plugging laminated shoelaces into my iPhone. I tried all 5 (perhaps expecting one at least to give me issues - at that price I would have been fine), but NONE of them plug in and charge without having to perform a ritual of wiggling and re-inserting. Two don't work at all, two work for a bit then stop, and another works slightly - that's my favourite.

It's not my laptop, as I have two different plug chargers that also can't cope with these. It's not my iPhone, as my friends' cables and docks work fine.

The annoying thing is, I ordered two of these before and they also only worked for about 2 months. Fool me once.... etc.

The other annoying thing is, I have an official Apple charger somewhere in the drawer which I was replacing because it started losing connection. And now I can't remember which one it is amongst all these junk ones - it's like putting my hand in a bucket of weird, futuristic space snakes to pull out the non-poisonous one.

TO RECAP:
They're a false economy. Buy some shoelaces instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad 31 July 2012
Colour Name:White|Size:iPhone 3G / 4 Cable
The second time I went to charge my phone the USB cable had burnt out. Could have been very serious and caused serious damage.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish! 2 Oct. 2012
By Karum

Yes, this item was extremely cheap. No, it didn't actually work. Not much else I can really add to that, except to say, I certainly don't recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously? 9 Jun. 2014
By Nav
Colour Name:White| Size:iPhone 3G / 4 Cable|Verified Purchase
Are these reviews for real? Any iPod/iPhone charging products on amazon all seem to spontaneously combust, and all of the comments are always enough to force any positive comments off of the screen?

It's a cable. It allows your device to be charged without having to pay Apple an extortionate amount for their branded cables and chargers (which btw also can explode and cause short circuits, check the Apple forums regularly and see the same kinds of posts, unless Apple regularly remove them).

I have several cheap knock-off chargers and not once has any of them exploded or caused burns, but I guess I'm just the luckiest cable/charger buyer on the internet!

EDIT - After a couple of months one of the cables stopped working, lol, turns out if I bend and hold the cable in the right place it will connect, so I either ran over it with my wheely chair, or there really is something wrong with these wires. Sigh. Any chance if the seller reads this they could send me another one...? To be fair nothing caught fire when it stopped working.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke after first use 10 Dec. 2012
Colour Name:White| Size:iPhone 3G / 4 Cable|Verified Purchase
The cable broke (disintegrated rather) after the first use. It charged my iPhone alright, but I couldn't get it out anymore without completely destroying it and obviously risking my phone. So I would really not recommend this product. It took very long to arrive too.
I left 3-star seller feedback mentioning that the cable broke immediately and the seller then got in touch to say they'd send a replacement, which they never did, and now I am getting emails asking me to remove my feedback in exchange for a small present... weird business conduct.
Anyway, I would strongly suggest not to buy this.

I bought this as a quick replacement because I needed to sync with iTunes but couldn't find my original cable.

Within seconds of connecting this cable to the USB port to sync with iTunes smoke started emerging from the iPod end and the plastic casing started melting. I suspect a poorly made high-resistance connection has caused it to overheat. My iPod Touch is now stuck in recovery mode and iTunes can't see it even though I have now found the original Apple cable.

Maybe if the manufacturer spent a little more time on testing their products, rather than spending all of the 99p cost on trying to fake the Apple packaging, then they might actually be able to make something that works.

Avoid this cable at all costs. A few positive reviews does not negate the fact there is no QA on these products and one unlucky cable could permanently damage your iPod/iPhone which will not be covered under warranty. It is simply not worth the risk.
