Not a bad product.
Dock is plastic, with a silver metal style at both the left and right edges.
Comes with two ports at the back, one permanently attached to a USB lead (comes with the product) to plug into a PC or laptop which allows the Galaxy S 2 to not only charge, but connect via Kies to the PC to allow full use.
The second is the flat mini usb connection allowing it to be used with a Samsung power charger.
The Galaxy S 2 fits into the dock ok, but the flat usb connector at the bottom is slightly raised from the rest of the platform meaning the phone wobbles slightly from side to side in the dock if you rock it, but lets face it, who is going to do that whilst it's in the dock sat on a desk somewhere.
The main annoying thing I have is, with only the mains AC adapter plugged in, every time i drop the phone into the dock (i.e. no connection to PC, just power from mains) the phone straight away launches the MTP application, meaning you have to press the home button to de-activate every time to use the phone normally whilst docked. Bit silly really, as this should only really come up when you connect your phone to a PC, and not when you're just charging.
I would say this is a Samsung issue, rather than this actual product, but it doesn't do it when I plug my Samsung charger in, so it has to be down to the circuitry of this product unfortunately.
But again that's not great hassle, just switch mtp off when you plug your phone in.
Obviously this means if you then decide to plug the other usb lead into a computer or laptop, you'll have to either pull your phone out, and drop it back into the dock, or just launch kies on your Samsung.
Which leads me onto a good thing which is you can have your phone running off A/C power on one connector, whilst plugged into your PC via the USB on another. The advantages of this are obvious (try charging any phone by USB rather than the mains, and you'll be there half a day). So now you get the best of both worlds.
Because of the small size of the dock, you do have to use two hands when removing the phone, from the dock due to it's lightness, and the usb flat connector the phone connects to is a little tight, but again no major problem.
So all in all not bad. I'd give it 4 out of 5 purely because I don't like the fact the usb connecter in the dock is slightly raised, meaning the phone wobbles inside the dock, and the fact that on charging only the MTP kies software launches on the phone, but apart from that good stuff.
Oh, one other thing. If you use a phone protector case (I use the Samsung hydro gel case
NEW SAMSUNG GALAXY S2 SI9100 PREMIUM QUALITY HYDRO GEL CASE | COVER | SKIN^^FREE UK SHIPPING) you will have to take it off, as with it on the phone won't fit into the dock. This is by far the most annoying thing I find about this product. Otherwise, thumbs up and does what it says on the tin.
