This box set two DVD, contains all thirteen episodes from series one of this fondly remembered, award winning drama. Filmed entirely on location in the stunning Yorkshire Dales, this series was originally made to appeal to the teenage market, but quickly became a firm favourite with all ages. With stunning locations, and acting of the highest possible standard, the reason for its success was that people could identify with the characters, and the sensitive and heart-warming storylines. The stories centre on "Dora" - superbly played by Gillian Blake - a sad and lonely girl, who goes to stay at Follyfoot Farm - a rest home for retired and ill treated horses. The drama follows the adventures of Dora, Steve (Steve Hodson), Ron (Christian Rodska) and the Colonel (Desmond Llewelyn) as they rescue and give a home to horses in need, as well as facing up to their own personal problems. "The Lightning Tree" used in the title song, refers to the beautiful tree in the stable yard that was struck by lightning, which Dora is convinced will grow again one day. This theme song introduces each episode, and there is stunning use of incidental background music used throughout each episode. For people who remember the original series, this box set will exceed all your memories and expectations, and for those new to Follyfoot - what a treat you have in store! There were three series of Follyfoot - a total of thirty nine episodes - so cannot wait for the next release.

Like other reviewers have commented, this series has aged extremely well. Even the pacing of some of the stories is not as slow as other shows of the same period. If you fondly remember Follyfoot from your childhood, you are in for a treat. Even the Yorkshire TV idents at the start of each episode are still there.
The only downside is the quality of the picture. The film is quite scratched and speckled in places. However, given the limited audience for DVD's such as this, Network are to be commended for releasing it. If this is the only way to relive this classic show, I'll take it !!

As an impressionable teenager, I absolutely adored "Follyfoot" and have remembered it with great fondness ever since.
When I found out that the first series had been issued on DVD I had very mixed feelings. The current trend for reissuing "classic" TV series means that I've revisited several programmes I had loved as a youngster, only to be disappointed by terrible production values and worse acting.
It was, therefore, with considerable trepidation that I ordered "Follyfoot", but so powerful were my memories of it, that I simply couldn't help myself.
I sat down to watch the first few episodes last night and it was an enormous relief to discover that Follyfoot was every BIT as good as I remembered.
From the unforgettable title music to Desmond Llewellyn's "Colonel", via Arthur English's wonderful Slugger and the young leads - it doesn't seem to have aged.
Worth every penny.

Follyfoot DVD
Item was a present for my wife who'd been reminiscing about it. Must admit, it brings back many happy memories of the early Seventies, and the theme tune was fab. Bonus!
