5.0 out of 5 stars JOHN IDANS DEBUT ALBUM 10 Dec 2008
Format:Audio CD
A very welcome addition to my cd collection is this debut album, from
John Idan,The former Yardbirds frontsman. But be warned if you are
expecting traditional styled Yardbirds blueswailing throughout, you
will be disappointed.Over all, the sounds found here, have a much softer
centre ground,to the harder driving Yardbirds sound.Throughout, its all so very melodic and well thought out. With multi layers of Idan's voices and the various instruments he plays, working so well together. For a debut album, this is quite a standout from the crowd album. He certainly surprised me with the warmness of his vocals,so easy and pleasing on the ear.
Am not going into a track by track of my favourite songs,as each number rolls into the next one like a well worn glove.Everything fits well.
So who would this album appeal to? Certainly people who grew up in the 1960s listenning to the likes of The Beatles,of course the fans John already has, will obviously love it,for those out there not having heard any of the 13 tracks found here, this should be rectified as soon as possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! 30 Jun 2008
By Del T. Pittman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This album has 13 songs, and in the days of Top 40 radio...all 13 would have been hits. The songs are diverse musically, and the music arrangements, lyrics, and melodies are solid throughout the album. When I listen to The Folly, I can hear the multiple influences that John must have been exposed to growing up. He's able to draw us in "to feel" the music. This may happen due to his long experience as a live performer. Truly, there is magic in the connectivity John makes with the listener that I haven't felt since Harry Nilsson's, Nilsson Schmilsson. This is a no hype review of one very amazingly solid album. A big Thank You to John Idan.
