A very welcome addition to my cd collection is this debut album, from
John Idan,The former Yardbirds frontsman. But be warned if you are
expecting traditional styled Yardbirds blueswailing throughout, you
will be disappointed.Over all, the sounds found here, have a much softer
centre ground,to the harder driving Yardbirds sound.Throughout, its all so very melodic and well thought out. With multi layers of Idan's voices and the various instruments he plays, working so well together. For a debut album, this is quite a standout from the crowd album. He certainly surprised me with the warmness of his vocals,so easy and pleasing on the ear.
Am not going into a track by track of my favourite songs,as each number rolls into the next one like a well worn glove.Everything fits well.
So who would this album appeal to? Certainly people who grew up in the 1960s listenning to the likes of The Beatles,of course the fans John already has, will obviously love it,for those out there not having heard any of the 13 tracks found here, this should be rectified as soon as possible.
