Musicianship at the Max,
By
This review is from: Follow the Reaper (Audio CD)
Children of Bodom's talent is just excetional. Label them melodic death metal, however in reality, they are death metal with simply unbeliveable talent.
All you need to do is listen to the debut "something wild" and realise that the song structure is still the same... it just never ever gets boring. Follow the reapers sees a moderate decrease in Bodoms electonic elements, but they are far from totally gone (thank heavens) FTR also contain my favourite Bodom song out of their enture discography, the self titled. Bodom are not only recommened for fans of speed/death metal but also for bands such as dragonforce and stratiovarious. just dont expect any clean vocals. Bodom scream like no one else, and its simply brilliant. This is for fans of extreme musicianship and likewise, brutally fast and vicious. This album could put a smile on the face of a dragonforce fan, as it equally could for a 1349 fan.

Great band,

This review is from: Follow the Reaper (Audio CD)
A mixture of death metal vocals and melodic heavy metal guitars, lots of solo's and hints of big 80's rock acts. Atmospheric and musically great, if you like long guitar tracks, gothic music and black metal with more melody and less vocals its a nicely rounded album. A few more vocals wouldnt go a miss but plenty of strong tracks.

stunning black metal album,
By A Customer
This review is from: Follow the Reaper (Audio CD)
these finnish masters really know how to make powerful music. this album, whilst not their best, is still an absolute stunner. tracks like 'Hate Me' and 'Follow the Reaper' involve you in the music, not the sort of thing to listen to whilst doing homework! the thing that catches my mind, though, is the superb lead guitarist, who, I believe, is only about 20 years old, and shows the promise to make him a legend. That's anothe point. These people are so young, and yet have an very impressive discography. To any black metal fans, cradle of filth fans, dimmu borgir fans - buy this album, and also check out 'Hatebreeder'. to anyone just getting into this music - buy it too! you'll be hooked on the solo work of each.
