Review
"F r alle, die sich f r Wissensrepr sentation, Information Retrieval und kollaborative Informationsdienste interessieren, ist Folksonomies: Indexing and Retrieval in Web 2.0 [...] unbedingt zu empfehlen."Ulrike Spree in: Information, Wissenschaft + Praxis November/Dezember 2010 "Folksonomies: Indexing and Retrieval in Web 2.0is an essential reading for those involved in folksonomy-related research, or the design or implementation of collaborative information systems. Although the book covers introductory topics pertaining to information retrieval and KOS, Folksonomiesis perhaps too advanced for undergraduate students but is suited to postgraduates, researchers, and academics within the overlapping disciplines of information and computer science, library science, and human-computer interaction."George Macgregor in: Library Review 7/2010
Product Description
Collaborative information services on Web 2.0 are used by Internet users not only to produce digital information resources, but also to furnish the contents of the resources with their own keywords, so-called tags. Whilst doing so the user is not required to comply with rules, as is necessary with a library catalogue. The amount of user-generated tags in a collaborative information service is referred to as folksonomy. Folksonomies allow users to relocate their own resources and to search for other resources. This book deals with collaborative information services and folksonomies both as a method of representing knowledge and a tool for information retrieval.
