I agree with Roger Vincent when he says this is a real steal for under a tenner. It certainly is; the problem is that once you listen to these tracks, you do what I do and buy a couple of the albums which the tracks come from. So, albums by Cooper, Boyes & Simpson and Bellowhead are on their way to me. "In the Cool of the Day" is a spine-chilling a capella track of the Jean Ritchie song and, for me (amongst a whole clutch of great tracks) is the best. Bellowhead start the double album off at an exuberant pace and there is a mixture of fine singing and instrumentals by those artists I am quite familiar with (Carthy * Waterson, Richard Thompson, Andy Cutting and Michael McGoldrick)and those I am less so (Heidi Talbot, Kris Drever and Fisherman's Friends).
Really, this is such a good way of promoting the wonderful diversity of folk music that I might have to look at previous compilations. As I say, a real treat, particularly for those of us who like folk music but need a little more familiarisation.
