Let down. 4 Oct 2008
Format:Paperback
I had been contemplating the purchase of this book for a few weeks, finally decided to go ahead and order it. I had high hopes for this book, something that could add a potential dynamic to work. Firstly, its an A6 book which was frustrating as the images inside were nice to see if only they had been larger. It begins with a few images of paper folds but no real instructional methodology as to how these could be achieved. Rather, just the image with words "score-crease-press-fix". On some of the pages it is easier to understand how that could be achieved but only because theyve just sliced the paper and pulled it apart "score-cut-pull up". Later on there are about two pages where a series of photographs are used to explain the methodology of making but of all the pieces they decided to explain, it was the ones which were of little interest to me. Save your money, just search google instead at least that way you dont have to squint.

Great to see how all these different ways of folding, cutting, etc. creates interesting spaces with very simple sheets of paper. Great for developping new ideas.

not worth the hype 8 Dec 2010

I had heard a lot about this book and how great it was. But I found this book to be useless. The book is small and so the pictures in it are small and of poor quality. There is only once in the whole book where it attempts to show you how to make some interesting forms but the pictures are so blurred and dark that you can't make anything out. most of the book contains images of finished ideas. It's like a cook book that shows you 50 finished cakes and doesn't explain how to start the cake, just shows you what it should look like. Don't buy this book, it's rubbish. Rubbish Rubbish Rubbish. I don't know how this book sold so many copies, maybe people are using it for toilet paper, on second thought it's useless for that as it's too small.

it's a nice little book to have around. Many people have asked to borrow it from me and were happy with what they gained out of it.

I haven't really used it but i found it nice to page through.

no one NEEDS to have this book, but it is nice to have handy for those moments in a pinch when you just need something to turn the crank in a design process for you.

are you kidding me? 13 May 2008

perhaps i expected a little too much from this book. but personally i just don't think the content is clear at all. sure they provide you a template of how they cut and score the paper but the models don't look like they have carefully designed. even for this low price it still doesn't justify, since you can find most of the stuff from google anyway.
