Book Description

15 Aug 2013 Fodor's in Focus Cayman Islands
One of the most popular destinations for Americans in the Caribbean, the Cayman Islands lie between the sun-kissed beaches of Cancun and the western tip of Jamaica. Famous for their ravishing coral reefs, safety, and hospitality, the Cayman Islands are a favourite destination for families, couples, and scuba divers. In Focus Cayman Islands has detailed coverage of Grand Cayman but also in-depth information on the sister islands, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, two Caribbean islands that remain relatively undiscovered, yet are famous for great diving and casual, comfortable resort accommodations.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice and useful guide book 11 Nov 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The choice for Cayman Island guide books was understandably fairly limited but I was happy with this one as gave really good all round information. It felt like the author really knew the area well and it was written from a personal point of view which added a nice slant to it. The restaurant recommendations were good too.

An excellent guide to the islands, I found it invaluable while in the Caymans. Highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless 10 Mar 2014

I really find that the book provides NO additional insight over what is available for free on the net, so its a fail.

1.0 out of 5 stars Outdated and Unreliable 9 Feb 2014
By CJM - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The book referred to Northwest Airlines, which has not existed since it was merged with Delta years ago. I thought that if Fodor's missed that basic detail, the rest of the book was not worth relying on, especially since I had invested substantial money in the trip. Instead I relied on current online resources and people on Grand Cayman. Sorry to be so negative, but it just isn't acceptable to lead travelers astray.

Has to have more specific hidden gems for me to give it five stars but over all it contains very good information.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great travel book 7 Jun 2014

Small and concise, easy to carry. Easy to follow, logical. Wish there was a little more on the history of Cayman, more color pictures and a couple of bigger, more detailed maps.
4.0 out of 5 stars A standard Fodors 6 May 2014

Very good about explaining sights. What you will see. Restaurant reviews were right on. Listings for hotels were helpful. Driving information was inaccurate. You can use an international license, which is good anywhere for a year, rather than buying a local permit. As usual, doesn't really answer the question, why Caymans?
