Although there's lots of good information here, including great info about trails, campgrounds, routes, etc., there's some key information that's missing. For example, there's a great description of rafting through Westwater Canyon, but it doesn't mention that all of the outfitters fill up, even early in the season. Similarly, even the private campgrounds near Moab fill quickly. Better information about when to book would be much more helpful for this to be a useful, up-to-date guidebook.

We used Fodors as a companion with 50 Best Short Hikes in Utah for a three week trip hiking the national parks and visiting the state. Although the book was extremely helpful with respect to history and locations and the book turned out to be an excellent, couldn't live without guide, be careful of the restaurant and some of the hotel information. We disagreed often with several of the authors' reviews and towards the end of the trip, felt not only misled but really angry because the guide had sent us there. After a day of hiking, most people are really hungry and looking for great eats..in this case, Fodors DID NOT DELIVER..We finally stopped using it and asked locals to rate.. FODORS UTAH needs a serious upgrade on the restaurant tip and should consider hiring new contributors for this important piece since from our research and experience, food is becoming big business in UTAH with foodies like us considering the state as a soon to become destination.
