Wonderful book, offering all I'd hoped for and more. Over 60 double page spreads with specific details about each attraction, which metro stop, where to eat, age suitability etc Good to see Paris Disney in its place as just anothet attraction - no more, no less space than anywhere else.

Extras at the end include simple games to play - and the advice to allow time to relax.

Pleasant to handle and quite light so I would definitely take it with me.

Has made me feel confident about my planned 2014 visit with my grand daughter, who will then be almost 10 years old.ygtt

Well written and accessible pocket guide to Paris for families. Plenty of great ideas to make the most of a trip to Paris to fill a spare couple of hours a long weekend or even a week's break. Useful contact info for all the places listed and also additional info on each location, including tips to get the most of the visit and good eats nearby. Well worth the purchase.

Not nearly good enough. 15 May 2012

Having someone from Earth edit and organize this self-indulgent book would have tripled the value.

First of all, it should be organized by arrondissement (neighborhood), because that's the reality of Paris. No sane family is going to bounce from the Bastille to the Bois du Boulogne on the same day. Instead the book is organized alphabetically, which is not helpful, and in fact problematic because the formal French names are not necessarily how things are identified. For example the "Centre National d'Art et de Culture Georges Pompidou" is referred to by Parisians as the "Beaubourg" - if you ask by the real name, they will probably stare at you blankly. It should be "Ok, today we're in the 6th, what else is around here?"

Yes there is some value - citing food resources at each site is a great idea, and I didn't know there was a "trampoline park" in the Tuileries - and you can get a kid-friendly brochure at Sainte-Chapelle - but it is generally so overwritten and unedited (only the strangest kid will want to see "Proust's bedroom"). Unless you have unlimited time and the patience to sort through the 6 point type (and if they had edited it the type could have been bigger) don't waste your money. There are not even little maps showing the metro and cross streets at each site.

Supposedly Fodor's are expert in travel books, and supposedly the writers live in Paris, so shame on them. I think Fodor's are just trading on their brand, and eroding it rapidly.

very useful 5 Jan. 2012

We bought this book to help us planning the three week long trip to Paris with three young kids. It worked out amazingly well. It is small enough to carry around, it has all necessary phone numbers and addresses, and, best of all, all the great advice on parks, kids-friendly museums, and combination of things to do in Paris. It also talks about things free in Paris - something that regular travel guides rarely mention. Highly, highly recommended.

This is a lovely book, and small too, so easy to shove in a bag. Great tips, information and illustrations make it perfect for any family travelling to Paris. It's one of my first choices to take on a family vacation to Paris.
Great Guide! 7 April 2013
By Mom - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I have lived in Paris and have visited approximately once every five-ten years my whole 43 years. I purchased this book before my first trip with kids. It is a perfect guide with great write ups on museums and cultural sites as well as swimming pools and amusement parks.

I think the key to successful travel with children is to keep things casual and varied. We generally have one major destination -- sometimes a museum, sometimes something entirely kid oriented for the day with with a lot of walking, treats, discovery and parks surrounding the destination. This guide is perfect for setting up this kind of outing. For example, combine the Louvre with jumping on trampolines in the Tuilleries gardens outside. Or spend an entire day at a massive indoor swimming pool with discovery of a new arrondisement.

The book also combines all of the well known destinations with a few lesser known options.
