Will Rock combines the appeal of wide open 3D spaces with the fun of being swarmed by enemies as in many 2D arcade games of the past. You're cast in the game as an indiana-jones style hero with a god in his head feeding objectives: a flimsy way of getting around the necessity to have a plot, or be subtle in suggesting where the player should go next.

Upon playing the game, problems emerge. It has all the characteristics: lots of enemies; interesting ways to kill them; abnormally difficult bosses; a simple puzzle or two. This game, however, fails to capture the magic found in other games of this type such as Serious Sam and its "sequel", Serious Sam: The Second Encounter.

You quickly find that the developers have brought together all the right ingredients, but they havn't understood the recipe. The gameplay does offer some interesting moments, but it fails to deliver with level after level of boxed-in coridoors (tombs to be accurate) that really take away the fun; when playing in the outdoor areas of the game, it really shines through much more: in the wide spaces, you have lots of room for doing what every 2D gamer understood best: running away from huge amounts of enemies.

This game offered promise, but just didn't live up to my expectations. If you're a gamer who only cares about impossibly difficult situations, crank the difficulty up to full and you'll have a blast. Otherwise, the lack of storyline and gripping gameplay make this game a dead weight.

not the most recent of games it is true but for the price paid its great, graphics are very good and audio is Ace, music is a real Rockers Dream puzzels are a bit Indiana Jones but then again I like that. Monsters are difficult but not impossable, in total a really good cheap game
