Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

How's your typing? If you want to get quicker Typing Tutor for Dummies helps you improve your typing skills at your own pace.

This is a simple-to-use program which, with practice, will encourage you to bring all your fingers into play when you are typing.

The lessons gradually get more challenging enabling you to memorise where the different keys are and you can get quick feedback on your accuracy and speed. If you are self-taught then it might be a bit tricky to shake off old habits but learning the correct way to type will make it a lot easier for you in the future.

The program offers a series of dictation sessions. There are 50 in total. A voice dictates a sentence or a word displayed on the screen and you simply type it out. There is a photograph of a pair of hands and red arrows point at which are the correct fingers to use on a particular key.

It is easy to find your way around the program and if you get tired there is an area where you can unwind and play games which include putting together puzzles of wild animals.

This typing program is quick to install and comes with clear instructions and pictures that point out how you use the various functions. With typing becoming essential in the world of work or for typing up school and college projects, this is a useful way to make sure you tap your full typing potential across the entire keyboard. --Justin Hunt

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but a little Misleading., 19 Feb 2003
This review is from: Typing Tutor for Dummies (CD-ROM)
Although still quite good, I found this product didn't quite live up to previous reviews.
It does have its good points. It has certainly helped me improve my typing speed and accuracy, especially as before I bougth it I was typing with just a couple of fingers, and now I use all ten digits. The instructions are clear, and once you get going, it is very easy.
The main problem is repetition. After completing the training, the number of different sentences you are asked to type in the practice section is very limited. You often find that you will hear the same sentence twice in a row, ans this can be annoying. The games are the most disappointing, as there is almost no variation.
All in all, a good programme, and certainly worth the cheap price, but be prepared to want a different one after a couple of months.

5.0 out of 5 stars Typing Tutor for Dummies, 6 Nov 2002
This review is from: Typing Tutor for Dummies (CD-ROM)
Brilliant! The CD-rom loaded into my Windows 2000 me edition first time with no hassle. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow even for a beginner like myself, making it a very effective tool to enhance typing skills. The games are fab. making learning much more interesting and taking the boredom out of typing practice. With its constant monitoring and evaluation it is just what I've been looking for to vastly improve my typing speed.
