I started teaching myself to play the guitar around half a year ago. I started with Dick's Guitar (Absolute Beginners)and withing a week or 2 I'd picked up a few basic chords and was hitting the internet for basic songs that I could play. I was happy with that book even if it didn't take long to get through. Due to work constraints, it's difficult for me to get a tutor so I'm learning a few tricks off people I know who already play the guitar.
So what do you expect from a cd? An interactive set of tutorials would be nice. Instead what you get in this CD is 10-20 lessons (2-3 paragraphs each not including those lessons with the same tune just played at a slightly faster tempos) mainly composed of text with little in terms of interactive video in small fonts and poor sound quality. All it gives you is a picture of a hand strumming a (largely) horizontal guitar. If you're going to start at the beginning, an intro as to guitar hand position would be nice. For a beginner, the program isn't easy to navigate through and it teaches chords and strumming patterns very poorly. Annoying niggles include having to press play on the screen and then not having any time delay to get your guitar back into your hands before everything starts playing.
I can't say I've tested the facility to plug a guitar into a computer and let it 'analyse' you. It doesn't quite seem right - one you need an electric, and two you need to scour around for an appropriate lead (which isn't a standard lead from guitar to amp).
Several books on the market cover a lot more material more interactively and in a more user friendly style to this program. If you're after interactive tutorials, several of the ones on youtube are in a completely different league to this one. Have a mosey at some of the sneak peaks at the online guitar lessons sites instead of wasting your time on this cheaply produced program.

I wish I had done some more research on this product before buying it. It is of poor quality and didn't really help with my learning. The basics are about as good as it gets, and I ended up throwing it in the bin.
