Focus Select Database 26 Mar 2004
I bought this product to try to find a cheaper alternative to Ms Access - and that is exactly what this is.

If you are looking for a fully featured, totally stable and supported database application builder - then this is not for you.

The installation is totally straight forward.
The database formats can be read in Ms Access which is useful as is the ability to export files. Probalby more importantly, the package does seamlessly open MS Access files - which is extremely useful.

Databases can easily be set-up, indexed, filtered, and you can very easily generate reports or data entry screens.

As with any budget software - it does have its quirky moments.

I have found a number of areas where if you have already created something it becomes simpler to re-create it from scratch than successfully amend some elments of it.

I have also found a few strange anomolies with database relationships and also logical fields, and how it evaluates in queries/reports - but again this is budget software.

It is compatible under Windows XP, which is a plus point - although I have had it crash a few times, for no apparent reason. When it does it has always recovered well, with no corruption to data.

Recomended - if you are after a BUDGET Database, but dont expect bells and whistles.

A great alternative 25 Feb 2005
By A Customer
A cheap alternative to Microsoft's Access which has everything you need to basically store, analyse and retrive information. With an interface similar to Access I started building my first database in minutes. A practical alternative for the home computer user.

Really useful 11 Jan 2010
A basic but really useful database for all those lists we need. I am also recording all the books I am reading so that I dont end up reading them again unintentionally! Useful for recording the authors, the content and what I thought of it.
