Explore the comprehensive learning stations by simply hopping in your car for an animated journey of discovery. Each house is packed to the brim with new and exciting activities, challenges and learning aids. Meet the resident family and talk about their school life, help Michelle to paint her room the correct colour and go on a shopping spree for clothes.

With fun activities that encourage children not only to repeat what they hear, but to think for themselves and with the ability to record your own voice with a microphone it's easy to correct your mistakes and monitor your progress until your French becomes tres bien!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing., 12 Aug 2001
This review is from: Q-Steps French for Children (CD-ROM)
The overall concept and homepage are quite encouraging but the results of achieving correct anwsers or solving problems were not sufficiently stimulating to hold the attention of my 6 year old daughter for very long. Also it is very frustrating to be offered further sections on the home page which are not on the disc. I understand from the helpdesk that this is because they 'ran out of space'after completing the homepage.

We bought this for our four year old daughter who knows a fair amount of French vocabulary but not too many sentences. She enjoys playing the games and has quite quickly learnt the relevant mouse control etc. She finds the games amusing, like the ability to put grandad in a dress. After she has done this she clicks on the tape recorder on the screen and it says "Grandpa porte une robe" and she can now repeat these phrases with the all the variations combinations. Good for colours and numbers, with plenty of activites in each section. I can imagine it wearing thin but a pretty good starting package.

5.0 out of 5 stars Q steps leading where?, 16 Jun 2001

This review is from: Q-Steps French for Children (CD-ROM)
My two 6 year old pupils are eagerly awaiting Q Steps Two, as promised in the main menu, "See you soon in Q Steps 2". The content and style of the first disk have been more than enough to hold their attention for hours on end. The variety of activities and fun way in which the lessons are delivered make this a most innovative way to learn. We were delighted, surprised and challenged on different levels. A transcript of the songs would have been helpful, as the sound quality here was not perfect, but it was good to record our own voices for comparison. So, more please asap., as we are so curious to learn what is inside the other 4 "houses"!
