One of the few CD Rom's that really is suitable for this age group,

I bought this title originally over 10 years ago for my eldest daughter and have just bought it again to get a copy more suited to Windows XP - it really is that good, and it is the only CD Rom I have found that I would think is truly suitable for young children. We have had others that have just been too difficult without a lot of help, either with the activity or with the necessary mouse skills. In Jump Ahead the activities are simple enough to enable 3-4 year olds to be able to tackle them as well as having to learn to use the mouse. The items to click on are suitably large and well defined. The activities are challenging enough without being too difficult. The instructions are clearly said. (though be warned, the tunes may stick in your head!) The whole Jump Ahead series is brilliant, and I thoroughly recommend this as an introduction to using a computer.

My daughter is 3 and just loves this, she knows most of the words and sits for as long as we'll allow switching from task to task.

Good, but be aware of age range.,

My husband and I have loved the Jump Ahead games since first discovering them for our, now, 14 year old. Our 4 year old daughter had Jump Ahead Toddlers and enjoyed it. She is going through a long phase of being completely disinterested in technology preferring imaginative play, but is due to start Reception Class in September so I bought this game to get her accustomed to using a computer again and as a new vehicle to build her literacy and numeracy skills in a fun way. I should have gone for a higher level. She had no difficulty following the on-screen instructions and manipulating the mouse and the games are far too simple. After the first game, she immediately increased the level to 3 before starting. We are now ordering the next game in the series to prevent boredom setting in. If your child is reading at Oxford Reading Tree Level 1-2 and able to count to 100 as well as add and subtract single digit numbers; I think you will find this particular Jump Ahead game too easy and, like us, may wish to consider the next one up in the series.
This said, I/we still love these games as fun, stimulating educational tools and will continue to buy them in the future.
