Fun:
I bought the game because I loved the idea of Blood bowl, and have been a determined Games Workship gamer for many years. When I found out that the makers of Chaos League (a game I enjoyed) were actively pursuing making a fully licensed version of the game they originally ripped off I held out high hopes.

This game unfotunately is a step backwards. From the unattractive screens and menu system, to the spectacularly uninteresting game animations, poor sound, atrocious commentary (the original Chaos League was at least humour filled) and a really quite unappealing single player challenge.

Throw in the online system being a bit flakey and all in all this is a disappointing product.

On the bright side:
1 - this is Blood Bowl. It's authentic, it ticks many of the boxes for boardgame players (though nothing beats holding the dice in your hands) and if you have a few mates then you can certainly set up an interesting competitive system.
2 - The support from the community and the company appears to be strong, which may ensure that this unpolished product may get better.

A couple of my friends really enjoy it and play it online, however out of the 3 I'm the only one to have played Chaos League and to therefore have some point of reference for just how little this title has been developed.

Fun:
I have bought this game already by the end of july over amazon.de and I am truly happy with this game. It had a lot of bugs in the beginning and there are still some stupid connection issues but once you get the game started it is a blast. Now after already 7 patches most of the functions and skills work properly. I hope they fix the opening ports problem soon. I only play the classic mode which is 1:1 identical to the rules of the original boardgame. The real-time mode is supposed to be a mess so I have never bothered trying it out for myself.

In order to be able to play this game you have to read the living rulebook which can be easily found on the internet. Otherwise if you haven't played the original you will have a pretty rough start. The single player mode is only for practicing. The AI is pretty lame, so there is no real challenge there whatsoever. But the true genius lies in the multiplayer leagues. You can either play single matches in the public league or start or join a private league. Private leagues are the best part in this game. You can create your own league with costum rules and start competing with your friends.

The graphics are quite nice for a "low-medium" budget game like this. The sound effects and sport commentators are great but unfortunately this game is completely lacking any music, but you can just switch on your winamp.

This game is a truely great adaptation of the original with all its brilliant and frustrating moments( the dices can really drive you mad). The only thing bothering me right now is the small amount of teams. The board game offers almost 20 here you get only 8. I miss my vampires, high elves, dark elves, the undead and so on. But I am sure there will be some updates coming.

So if you are in for a great strategic sport chess game I highly recommened it. A victory tastes delicious if it comes with a gallon of elf blood :-)But if you are looking for a sports game, don`t bother with this one.

Bloodbowl on PC 6 Jan 2010
Fun:
I started with the xbox 360 version of this game but then discovered the xbox version had a lot of stuff removed to speed up load times so for half the price i tried the PC version and was stunned by the amount of extra goodies i found like graphical armour upgrades and realistic hair and being able to see mutations on your chaos and scaven teams. theres also online leagues, some thing the xbox version only hints at but dosnt let you join.

So if you like bloodbowl get the PC version

Blood Bowl
Good game - but the required cliks to move things ae not intuative, and it is a very heavy processor user. This does give it good graphics however.

Great game
If you like the board game then you will definitely like this game. It's got everything from the game, the rules, the violence, the humor and the atmosphere. Great entertainment.
