This CD Rom was a bit tricky to load as it is 'windows 95' but we found a simple conversion setting so it can play - This is why I have not given a fifth star.
The actual CD ROM is full of fun, my 6yo loves it. He loves interactive PC and music but would find it difficult to keep practising things without some interactive method like this CD ROM to keep interest and variety.
You start in a room of a lad who is a bit like a 'cool, sensible older brother type of character' which worked well. This lad shows how the recorder is played by you clicking on pictures on his wall (they are different places around the world)- the pictures take you to different places where wise teacher figures show by means of :-
* A recorder being played showing finger positioning, also taking you through new notes at your own pace.
* The music written & followed with a time line
* A metronome where you can adjust the speed to suit your ability - you can reply as many times as you choose and up the tempo when you feel ready.
* There is also music with the note letters where you have to drag the notes to the correct positions before playing
* You can also drag'n'drop to make your own tune.
* You can discover all about different note types (quavers etc)
* All the above you can repeat, get to, move on from easily without feeling trapped on any one area.
