Book Description

7 July 2010 Lark Photography
Photographers who want to improve their picture taking need a book that cuts right to the chase - one that provides the information instantly, without forcing them to wade through loads of extraneous detail. Thats just what acclaimed photographer and teacher George Schaub does in this superb introduction to scenic photography: he outlines only the crucial concepts and principles - from spot metering and fill flash to backlighting and sharpening - and applies them to real-world shooting scenarios out in the field. This guide will help photographers: Use camera tools such as the highlight warning to check images in the field and make sure skies and waterfalls are not overexposed; Reduce noise in deep-forest shadows and in sunset and sunrise photos; Make flowers stand out with photos that exhibit painterly bokeh; Use white balance to creatively accentuate autumn colours; and control shutter to convey movement in streams and rivers.

5.0 out of 5 stars The smart guide on capturing the best image. 2 Dec 2010
Format:Paperback
This book accompanies me and my camera on all journeys. Full of sensible know-how, it is a gem. The author is a master and this, like his other books, adds insight and knowledge without excessive detail: the flab that so many books carry. Whether beginner or and old hand this book has value. It is an essential for those who want to move beyond the 'point and shoot' and for those looking to get the best images which not only depends on the photographer's eye but on knowing how to use the camera and its settings to do so. Nothing worse that seeing the shot only to lose it with poor or inadequate execution. I love it and the pictures.

With an interest in outdoor photography and getting most of the basic right with my digital SLR, I wanted something specific. This neat little book is clear, easily understood, simple for the non-professional, and helps me understand what makes a better outdoor, landscape photo.
