Absolutely Superb 18 May 2006
Format:Paperback
This book should be thought of as a big, friendly "START HERE" button for Adobe's excellent EncoreDVD version 2 package.

It assumes no proior knowledge, but is still very useful to experienced authors as well as beginners alike.

It takes you right through the whole process of creating your own DVD-Video discs from scratch - and more than that, it clearly explains (with the aid of plenty of real world screenshots) every step of the process in jargon free language.

But it goes even further!

Part of Adobe's strength here is the way that EncoreDVD integrates with other packages such as Photoshop, Audition, Premiere Pro & After Effects and this tight integration is also covered inside these pages.

If you own this application then you should also own this book. Jeff Bellune actually uses EncoreDVD in his daily business - and his expertise shines through in this tome.

Highly recommended.

Wow! A great book to learn Encore 2.0!!! 24 May 2006
By Mitch - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I'm an experienced video editor and DVD author with experience using a previous version of Encore. I got the book to learn the new features in Encore 2.0. I'm very pleased with the easy to read style, lots of great examples, and many wonderful tips on how to make my DVDs better using Encore. This book really rocks!!! I would recommend it for people new to Encore, also.

A valuable guide with room for improvement 1 Jan 2009
By F. Odds - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This Focal Guide sets out to describe in fine detail all the possibilities for DVD creation in Encore, and to do so by working through the creation of a project step by step. Where it falls down is in its failure to provide what so many other technical books do automatically nowadays: an accompanying CD or DVD -- or material on a website -- so the reader can work through the steps with the same movies and still pictures as those illustrated in the text.
As a complete novice to Encore I learned a lot just from reading the book, and I now certainly appreciate the enormous, complex capabilities of the software -- far more than I had originally imagined. But I can't really sit at the computer and work through the chapters using my own raw materials as effectively as I could have with the same bits and pieces (sorry, 'assets') that are illustrated throughout the text.
As a reference text the book is useful, but one is pretty much forced to read long sections of chapters to get nutshell information on specific topics.

A waste of time, money and paper 12 May 2007
By Peter J. Helfrich - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I need a book that walks me through an average interactive DVD project. All this book does is bore you to death with nonsense, and never walks you through a project.

If I could sue for false advertisement, I would.
