Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The popular Turbo Compact 330 from Flymo is light and easy to use, and will have your garden looking great in no time at all.

Fitted with a 33cm metal blade and a powerful 1500 watt motor, your light weight Turbo Compact 330 will make easy work of even the toughest of conditions.

The grass is collected in a 30 litre grass box, and is compacted to collect more grass, and means fewer journeys to the compost heap to empty your cuttings.

Your Turbo Compact 330 comes equipped with 4 heights of cut (between 12 - 32mm), meaning that your desired grass height can easily be achieved.

The 12 metre mains cable on your Turbo Compact 330 gives you the freedom and flexibility to move around your lawn, without having to worry about running out of cable.

You don't need to worry about maintenance or servicing when you buy a Flymo product, because they are designed to the highest standards of quality and reliability, and only require the minimum of attention to keep them working perfectly over their long life.

I would not normally take the time to write a review such as this - HOWEVER - this mower was so fundamentally flawed that I have offloaded it on EBAY and bought one with wheels (not a flymo).

We only have a small lawn on a V slight gradient, and this mower did more harm then good. Even going over areas several times, much of the grass was simply "bent over" rather then actually cut. I used it twice and the results were simply terrible.

My two main issues are a) it doesnt mow properly b) it doesnt collect the grass leaving large clumps behind. Pretty fundamental aspects of a "mow and vac" style mower. Even going over the lawn several times leaves behind large clumps of grass, with some grass just crushed rather then cut.

Bluntly - It simply does not work very well.

Additionally, as soon as it has much grass (1/2 full) it stops hovering. It should be called a "drag" mower rather then "hover".

Save your money. I flogged mine on EBAY and bought a Bosch Rotak for under £100 which is 10000% better. It is light, easy to use and leaves the lawn looking perfect.

Bottom line - avoid flymo's like the plague.....

    3 mowers in 3 years 29 Jun 2006
Allthough the mower worked well and collected the grass ok, I only was able to use it once. after the second time the impeller was ruined and sheer pins snapped causing the unit in-oprable so much so it had to be renewed under warrenty. the same happened to the second and third mowers.. Allways the same fault with the impeller. Since the initial warrenty has run out and it wasnt continued on to the new replacements I now have to pay for the parts myself or get a new mower. It will not be one of these again.

If I'd have written this at the weekend, this would have been a long rant, but I've calmed down now.
We got this flymo from my in-laws and as soon as I have the spare cash it's going in the bin and we're getting a mower with wheels and not a flymo! The 3 main design flaws are as follows:
    1. It has rollers at the front which flatten the grass before it cuts it. If they'd put the rollers at the back it would cut all the grass first time and leave a stripe, but it actually works better if you drag it behind you and go backwards (but that way, it doesn't suck up the grass cuttings),
    2. following on from that, it doesn't actually suck up much of the cuttings because the air that it blows out to make it hover, also blows lots of grass cuttings everywhere so we end up with lots of grass bits all over the flower beds, patio, pond and anywhere else you don't want them,
    3. It has a window so you can see when the grass collector box is full, but that only works the first time you use it, after that bits of grass get stuck to the inside of it and you can't see through it ever again... unless you clean it very thoroughly every time you use it.
We have had this flymo for some time now and these issues have been bugging me for a while, it's not just teething problems. I'll never have a flymo again!
