I disagree that this is one of the best books in it's category. It is a very revealing & definately interesting book and I have loved reading it & going back to certain parts. But I disagress with the author's approach. I believe some of her insights into the Astral Plane are wrong, and what I don't think is clearly defined enough is that everyone's experiences are DIFFERENT, UNIQUE! It comes across that Astral Projection is a really easy thing to do, and for some people it is, but this is quite misleading for the rest of the population who have to work @ / study and learn AP. It is a very informative book, definately a must read for any Astral Traveller, but don't take the authors insights as gospell.

The book starts with the history of astral projection, before describing the many astral places that one can visit. There is a special emphasis on healing.
However, it all seems second hand: there is very little of her personal experiences. I had the uncomfortable feeling that this was a book that drew mainly from other books. This is not a book that surprises. For example, there is a description of a visit to a Greek Temple. However, nothing that is written about this temple is not something that one could not have read about elsewhere from a history book. The ommission of any particular insights or surprises robs the book of vitality. Right through the book, I was wishing to hear of her own experiences, rather than generalized descriptions. The few anecdotes that are interesting come from fellow colleagues.
Also as another reviewer found, the author underestimates the practical aspects of astral travel. For the author, astral travel is almost as simple as closing ones eyes. Now I read some other books on Astral travel, where the authors give their personal experiences and nowhere is it as easy as made out in this book.
This superficial treatment of the mechanics of astral projection leads me to rather recommend Robert Peterson or William Buhlman.

This book on astral projection is quite fascinating, but I have not found it at all useful in practice.

I would say it is just as much a book about witchcraft, not to use the word in any pejorative sense, but merely as a descriptive term.

The author counsels us on how to achieve astral projection through meditation. I have never associated meditation with astral projection, not at all, and have not been able to succeed in achieving the latter consciously, though I have tried. And since the author's multifarious teachings and advice are based on obtaining astral travel by this method, I have been unable to benefit from any of it.

So for me the book has been a sort of airy-fairy, unobtainable fantasy.

I would conjecture that the author is one who has always been able to freely roam around the astral realms. I am in no doubt that she can do and has done all the things she describes, though the book might have been more readable had she recounted some of her own personal experiences. But we're not all born with the same gifts and abilities. Perhaps with hard work and perseverance we could achieve many of the things she describes.

But it is somewhat frustrating to read a book about all kinds of exciting things one can carry out in the astral realms, when we can't even get there.

The author does provide us with some advice on herbs, stones and oils to help in recalling astral travel and/or heightening the psychic senses. For example, she advises us to make a dream pillow stuffed with dried mugwort and informs us, among other things, that amethyst is a valuable astral travel gem, and quartz crystal can help open the psychic centres.

A holistic approach to the art and practice of Astral Projection. Subjects range from techniques for leaving the body, karmic responsibility, psychic self-defense, practical wisdom, productive activities and much more. Ms. Conway has a way of writing and teaching that doesn't come across as "preachy." Refreshing and reassuring, Ms. Conway accomplishes much in stripping away the elitism and mystery from this natural ability of all people. Destined to become a classic on the subject of Astral Projection, this book gets two thumbs up!

Conway's concentration on research and writing has certainly paid off. With the knowledge of an expert and impressive writing skills Ms. Conway thrills the reader in every page. The chapters about historical time travel and astral love simply cannot be missed. A book you'll keep by your bedside to read over and over again. Must rate amongst the best ever on astral projection.
