Product Description

Review

Fisher again displays an impressive set of skills, from air-walking and daredevil plane flying to blood-splatter analysis, and Greenwood leavens her plot with Wodehousian characters and wit. (Publisher's Weekly )

Book Description

The second in the charming cosy crime series starring the glamorous heroine Phryne Fisher.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Delightful Series 5 May 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This particular book in the series hasn't been adapted for the TV series, so the material was all new to me. Again, Phryne proved an effervescent and charming leading lady with a cast of memorable supporting characters backing her up. As the publisher's synopsis suggests the author also gives attention to Phryne's extensive wardrobe. While it is a cosy mystery there is an undercurrent of darker themes as well as a sprinkling of eroticism.

I've quickly fallen in love with this series and again do hope that C&R Crime will continue to publish more titles in the coming months. Not only for myself but to allow copies to be bought by UK libraries allowing others to discover the delightful Miss Phryne Fisher for themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flying Too High 18 Oct 2013
By Damaskcat HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition
Phryne Fisher is asked to investigate a murder but she soon finds she has very little sympathy with the victim who seems to have been a thoroughly unpleasant person. A small girl goes missing and it soon becomes clear that she has been kidnapped. Can Phryne find the kidnappers and rescue the little girl before anything irrevocable happens?

A fast paced story involving some daring stunts which kept me turning the pages, this is a well written mystery set in Melbourne, Australia in 1928. In spite of the many restrictions placed on women in that era Phryne somehow manages to achieve her aims. In this second instalment of the series the reader gets to know the regular characters a bit better - Phryne herself, the ever practical, Dot, her maid and assistant and a brief appearance by Jack Robinson the detective.

If you enjoy historical mysteries then try this series. The books can be read in any order but for those who like the read series from the start the first book is `Miss Phryne Fisher Investigates' (AKA `Cocaine Blues')

A gripping story reflecting the period between the two world wars. Story set in Australia but so well written it could have been anywhere at that time.

fun, short read and worth bringing with you on a train ride. Characters were good, interesting story line, fizzled a bit at the end but definitely worth getting.

5.0 out of 5 stars phyrne fisher 24 Mar 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Kerry Greenwood's books about Miss Phyrne Fisher, Lady Detective are a fantastic example of their genre. Set in the 1920s they have been brought up to date to a certain extent by this author, without loosing the period feel and authenticity of this period. Truly enjoyable - I can't praise this book and its fellows enough.
