An absolutely entertaining page turner 24 Feb. 2014

There are two ways to write a book on cricket controversies - one is to be holier than thou and outraged at the extent to which the gentleman's game has fallen, and the other to firmly tuck one's tongue in one's cheek and have a laugh at just how crazy things could get in a game that started out as being one for the prigs. For make no mistake about it, Flying Stumps and Cricket Bats is more about entertainment than education - it is a rollicking page turner and anyone who really loves the game is going to find lots of familiar faces and incidents out there. The perspectives of many of the players involved in the incidents in the book further spice up matters, although some can get a bit tedious. My only complaint? The book is a bit on the short side and well, given the recent IPL ruckus, some might say it is already a bit dated. But if you are a cricket fan, you miss this at your peril.
