Product Description

Product Description

Meet the Owls Crime Squad. The firm that became notorious for pulling off the most audacious invasions and legendary battles no matter how the odds were stacked. What they lacked in organisation they made up for in sheer ferocity. Always up for it and never prepared to give any ground, they caused mayhem up and down the country, both on and off the terraces. For the first time, Paul Allen and Douglas Naylor piece together their years together in one of the most feared firms since the '70s. This is an electrifying and intelligent account of the legendary decades when the Owls Crime Squad dominated casual violence. It is an uncompromising look at football culture and the violence that surrounds it.The names have been changed to protect the innocent...and the guilty!

From the Author

I wrote this book get a message across. Books have been written about Sheffield United's hooligan groups, and references to Wednesday have rarely been complimentary. This book seeks to give our side of a story, which, until now, has been all one sided. Its not all pretty reading, and I can readily accept our failings. We are human, and certainly no 'super-firm'. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

This book is a breath of fresh air in this genre, usually this type of book tends to wildly exaggerate and glamourise football hooliganism and violence in general. This comes across as a very honest and realistic account of Paul Allens adventures in this field where he re-lives both the ups and downs with humour and integrity. A very good read for all football fans. Truly unputdownable.

I bought this book more out of curiosity than anything else, and not from Amazon I might add (paid full price for it in Waterstones!). I do not particularly like books of the hooligan genre, and to be honest expected more of the same guff that I had read in the Soul Crew, ICF and BBC books. What I got was something completely different!!! A book where the authors acknowledge their shortcomings, and tell it in such a way that you find yourself totally immersed in the stories being told. If you buy one hooligan book ever...make it this one.

A good readable book made even better at the fact that im a Wednesday fan.

Gives good detailed accounts of many different battles and the never ending battle between the OCS and BBC

Shows life as a Wednesday hooligan and many different away trips which were not all successful.

Great read for any one interested in hooligamism.

I bought this as a present and the recipient thoroughly enjoyed it.
He said it is an excellent read - full of stories but not bragging.
An interesting read.

A good read
A good, what seems like true account of the ups and downs of a firm, I just wish more firms would tell about the times THEY got RUN.
