I am not completely sure what this book is about, but I reread it every few years because the strangeness and beauty of many of its images and its mysterious story have haunted me for years. Very unusual, almost mystical story telling, with a poets ear for language and eye for the striking picture. If you are looking for a clear cut story with a beginning, a middle and an end, look elsewhere. If you are prepared to try something closer to a fable with real depth and allusiveness, well worth a try.

Mystical, magical, and beautifully written. Lingers in the mind long after the last page has been turned. One of my all-time favourite books.
